June 2009 SAT Writing!

^yea i thought it was courses in also but courses of works apparently (googled it and tons of things popped up)

For the D-Day one, anyone else have ideas?

i thought it was “having…”…I dindt think “due to its postponement” was a legit way to start out a sentence

I still think mountain lions is not one of…i think its a trick question as it was #29.

essay prompt: does it benefit someone to see flaws of heroes

the city one was:
The city of Conway, Wales, “now surrounds” the medieval walls and castle that used to enclose “it.”

i think i picked the having choice too

the pasta question had a mistake (it was the word underlined before pasta making devices)

for D Day i said something a long the lines of: because it was postponed…

what was the context of “courses” in the old man sentence?
i dont remember anything about courses…

So does one take a course of writing

or

does one take a course in writing

or are they both acceptable

^^^ya it had a mistake…

was that the one with “appears” taht was a mistake…it was very tricky.

It was they take courses of writing…

i thought take courses in writing…

but apparently if you google “courses of writing” theres a lot. “courses of” gives even more.

was it possible i had a different prompt? i swear i read it and re-read it like 20 times, mine was kind of similar, but it was like:

if you accept yourself for who you are does, that stop you from trying to improve yourself?

or am i just totally ■■■■■■■■

yeah i think i picked “having postponed…” was there none starting with because for the DDay question?

what did everyone use on their essay?

so is there any consensus on the following?

Something with “interest in” or just “interest” - which one was correct

what about the 2nd to last question on section 10 - was A correct?

And for the last question, I put A (“were…”) because I thought the “them” in “By Them” (Choice E) was referring to the wrong thing.

yup you had a different prompt…and it sounds tougher than the one i had

i dont remember the interest/in question
whattttt mabsj…i dont seem to recall any of those questions. more detail?

hahaha thanks for confirming that, naw it was actually pretty easy, i ended up using ghandi and the special olympics for my examples, i didnt do terribly good but i think i did better then average…

scared the crap out of me because it was so similar to the other prompt, thought there was a chance that i misread that or somthing

apparently the people in their eighties/autobiography/courses was in experimental anyway

maybe they will throw out that question.

^No def not…

I had an experiemtntal math (4 math sections), and I had that question.

Howeve,r we may be right…
searching the entire phrase “taking courses of writing” there are 0 hits…change to in there are tons of hits compared to the former.

That’s the one I left blank…

interest/in question

I was about to circle A (interest). Tell me that is wrong and it was interest in and I will be glad I didn’t fill it in.

No, eighties wasn’t in experimental.

What is the city one?

What was the answer to the very last question in section 10 about the people being informed or something like that?

Prism-

Consensus is that it was no error on city one. I disagree, though I’m probably wrong, because shouldnt a wall surround a city rather than saying a city surrounds a wall?

courses on writing, courses about writing…are right, too…but i think courses OF writing is wrong hmm…i was more focused on the “long ago” part…
