June 2009 SAT Writing!

i put no error for mountain lions, doesnt the piecing teeth fit with the rest of the parallelism?

the caricature one i put the one where there was a singular/plural verb error

what did you guys put for the mexican nobel peace prize winner? i had to pick between two

what about the D-Day question? was it “Due to the effects of the storm postponing it…” or “Having been postponed by the storm,…” or something else…

and i put A for the last question, it may have sounded weird but it was the only one that fit with the rest of the sentence, E didn’t really fit with the rest of the sentence

But i dont understand.

Mountain lions are one species?

If you had to say that dont you say:

Mountain lions are one group of lions?

That’s what I was thinking while taking the test…

I mean i could be totally wrong.

but when I do “tigers are some” and “tigers are one” the latter appears way more…

infact, it has “siberian tigers are one of the most endangered species” on a scholastic website (pretty big website)

And this was a smilar questione except replace siberian tigers=mountain lions.

this is especially true if you are talking about a CERTAIN type of that animal. its “one of”

There wasn’t 5 no errors. It was more like 3/4

Ya 3 errors

the city one
the one about old people
the mountain lions one (i think its still no error even if its one of…i think thats correct way to describe a certain type of species)

the appears one was an error…i dont think there were any other tricky ones.

The D-Day one was “Having been delayed because of adverse weather conditions…”

“Due…” sounded correct to but I dont see a problem with ^

which one was the one about old people

does anybody remember it

1232cricket-

I see what you are saying. However, lions is plural and one is singular. So, it has to be an error.

On the castle one, I guess I disagree with the CC consensus. It said that the city surrounds the walls; however, should the walls surround the city. So, did anyone say surrounds was wrong?

I put one of because mountain lions was plural.

i had 3 no errors, city and castles one, old people one, and mountain lions

i picked Due to… for the D Day one because i thought that was like active voice or something while having been… was passive? idk

for the essay i only used examples in literature… in anna karenina and crime and punishment

i got quite a couple of no change (A) and no errors (E)
for the taking a nap, i put no change

ALSO-- for the question about old men in their eighties writing about how they lived long ago, i put no error

My experimental (gorilla) was 6. My 2 was parrots, real. It differs.

wg…I don’t remember that question…was it on experimental?

yeah i got no error for the castel/conway/walls question…i was going to say that “it” was too ambiguous but it couldnt really refer to anything else but conway,wales-- so i put no error.

oh i picked A for the old people writing

i thought they used an incorrect preposition i think thought it should have said course in wiriting instead of i think course of writing

i forget what it said originally

it said old people take a course of writing

i thought it should have said old people take a course in writing

because course of writing, doesn’t that mean while writing

while course in actually refers to teh class

hmm i might have gotten an experimental…i had a passage about a parrot named alex in the last section of the writing (correcting the essay)

that kinda sucks…i did well on the experimental…

What was the city one that is apparently a no error?

what was the essay prompt again?

courses in?

i think the error was either in “in their eighties” or “long ago”… not sure, dont remember much of the first part of the sentence.

sry if this has already been discussed, but wat is the consensus to the pasta answer again?

No, that was real.

But it was such a stupid paragraph. Hahahaha
