June 2009 SAT Writing!

I still strongly believe that the old person question was no error

ok if u go here
[OSU Department of English – where innovation and tradition meet](http://english.osu.edu/students/undergrad/courseinfo/geccourses.cfm)
it says

"The OSU English Department provides roughly thirty courses of English 367 per quarter.

Hmmm. The curve will probably be fair.

I’m really hoping to bank on an 11/12 essay, and then just… see what that gets me. I know that I got at least -3/4 on the writing. Maybe in the 700s, somewhere?

but the issue is more

do you take courses of writing

or do you take courses in writing

or are both viable options

i wish the correct answer was “courses of writing” but I just don’t logically see why CB would stump us with something that obviously DOES have a better alternative.

^but if Ohio State’s website uses it, y can’t we?

Monoclide - sounds like you were in the 700s. On the March SAT I got -3 and 10 essay, which was a 730.

Maybe that is the problem. It’s Ohio.

That’d be awesome! I didn’t have a conclusion, I ran out of room. But my three paragraphs were solid. And I definitely backed my thesis. I just want 600 on each section. Not shooting for stars. Just reasonable reaches.

just look at it this way: “course” is basically “class,” right?

So, can you take a “class of writing” or a “class of history”?

btw, is it possible to have -1 and get an 80 on MC?

If the test is really, really, really hard, then yes. But I don’t think it’s applicable on this one.

Lol all this controversy over something I didnt even notice when I was taking the test…o well I hope its No error. Btw if you miss 1 on the test and get an 11/12 on essay is that still an 800

lol yeah i didn’t even notice this freakin question!

well i already have -1 for the piercing teeth question

i hope i got a 12 on this essay, but knowing how random graders are, its uncertain

i’m not sure about the old people question

i’m happy that the experimental was the impossible writing section

what was the answer to the piercing teeth question?

^I thought it was confirmed that “one of” was the wrong part of the sentence/correct answer? That’s what I put.

Edit: Not sure though, because conversationally, “mountain lions are one of…” sounds entirely correct. But “one” is singular and “lions” are plural.

yeah I put “one of” but I am not sure

i think one of is correct

You can say

They are one of the greatest band ever

one of can’t be used to describe a plural thing. It should have been “mountain lions are SOME of”

btw, does anyone know what one wrong MC was for the May test? (without essay score)

old man - no error
lions - one of (should be some of)

here is a question for ya

it was like something about Rome
when it was a Republic and after it became an empire
something like that
was that experimental or what
