June 2009 - World History

@ ears550 one was european colonization and one was invasion by japan… i don’t remember the other three

hey i was just wondering for the subject tests does everyone take the same one. Or is it like the PSAT where every school has like testW or testL etc

everyone took the same one (assuming every1 took it on test day)

What will the curve be? What’s 18 wrong, 8 blank haha? 700? 710?

I’m nervous. I got 3 omit, and anywhere form like 8-18 wrong haha

wait does it really matter how many you got wrong/left blank? its just the answer correct -(.25x#of wrong) right?

^^^huh?

what u just wrote was contradicting…it DOES matter what u get wrong/leave blank since that affects ur raw score…which translates into ur real score.

ocean of suffering - buddhism, not hinduism
and Rossetta Stone was used for translation

why is it buddhism?
ocean of suffering is used to describe the cycle of reincarnation in hinduism

hey guys,
i’m pretty sure someone said this before, but there was definitely a pretty easy question asking:
Who had colonies in southeast asia? FRANCE

that is one more question you guys are missing

also, can someone explain this question more
36. roman and persian roads
messengers
cuz i dont seem to remember it or the answer choices

also was the rosetta stone one translation?

and is #1 farmers or tax? cuz everyones saying tax now…
does someone want me to repost the list with updates answers (or you can if you want to)

^^you are right, the rossetta was for translation.

i don’t remember a question about colonies in se asia or the choices. But i highly doubt france was the answer. Depending on the definition or time period, monguls/ottomans (not 100% sure) would be more acceptable.

edit: i was talking bout which is better? but i figured it out

france did have control of colonies in SE Asia for trade not large countries like china but smaller islands yes

i was talking about the SE colonies yes, like burma, cambodia, loas etc. which i believe france was the answer
i am a 100% sure this was on there.
someone else brought it up too so im not delusional…lol

what were some of the answer choices for the third rome one, besides moscow and kiev?

only moscow and kiev were even plausible. I think the others were jerusalem and israel? lol

damn it i really cant remember whether i put kiev or moscow…i forget the exact question

collegebound: you skipped a lot of q’s right? is this better than answering a couple incorrectly

now that i think about it, i think it is. like if you can narrow it down to 2 or 3 then guess. but dont fill in C cuz its the letter in ur last name or something lol

France controlling SE asia? Yes, France did have lots of colonies there but that was only for like 100-150 years or so. The question said something like which country was SE asia subservient to/colonies/ tribute states of for MOST of their history. China was in control of SE asia for more than a thousand years, way before fraance, which only had SE asia beginning in the age of imperialism.

For the question about the SE Asian colonies, I put the Netherlands. The Dutch colonized Java (Indonesia).
As for China, I thought the Chinese only made the countries (like Vietnam) pay tribute, but the Chinese didn’t actually colonize them.

^^^yea. w.e this thread seems very inaccurate now. I’ll just wait to see my score. I wanna know if any1 got an 800. Also, when you get it in the mail does it tell you which ones you got wrong/right answers, like the psat?

for the ocean of suffering, i figured that it was Buddhism because their main principles in the Four Noble Truths/Noble Eightfold paths is to get rid of suffering by ending desire and leading i pious life. idk, maybe i just skimmed that question, hinduism also seems plausible.
