June 2010: Biology

@Ivysaur - I got IV.

Also, the one about the argument against the use of the virus on rabbit?

And the vestigial organ for the snake one as well?

I see (10char).

@running, I got the environmental type response, “it would diminish the niche, blah, blah”. It can’t have been “native species” since the bacteria could only kill rabbits, and there was another option…which I can’t remember, but I believe that was incorrect as well.

@xxrunningonempty

pelvic bone

there was a question on the M section that talked about an organism having only RNA. Then it said that it must have an enzyme that coulddd… with choices like DNA-RNA, RNA-new RNA…i totally guessed and chose DNA-RNA

^that’s what i put.

I was debating between niche one and the protein-machinery one. I ultimately chose the protein-machinery for reproduction. Although, looking back at it, it doesn’t like it was right.

@derek: Thanks - got pelvic bone as well.

Worst case scenario: - 7 wrong w/ 0 omissions.

the others made no sense.

It was DNA to RNA , I think thats what I put to fresh.

So far on the ones we’ve discussed I’m still Down 3 Omit 3.

I hope i do well to show my classmates that a not-so-good AP Bio Class does not necessarily correlate with a not-so-good BIO SAT II’s score. I’m a source of inspiration to them. Come on!!

wow im getting real lucky with some guesses. so far -2 omit 1

Does anyone remember putting “Decomposers are an important part of the ecosystem” for an answer?

^ I put that. Although B could have been correct as well.

Was B about the amount of energy available? I was torn between those two but I put the decomposers answer.

^is this in the E section?

^^ &^ Yes, it was.

So far I’m -1 omit 1
I hope I got no others wrong. Some of the questions were really easy and purely observational. There were only a couple of hard questions.

-have circular DNA bacteria
-crayfish have gills
-the oxygen product of photosynthesis comes from water
-plasma is mostly made of water
-biome with fires chaparral
-data supported that urea least likely to be absorbed
-vestigal organ in snakes pelvic
-plant diagram: xylem was on left, phloem was on right;
part in between gave rise to both xylem and phloem;
outtermost part on far right was for protection
-for water and electrolyte absorptionlarge intestine
-moss living on tree commensalism
-orchid pollinated by one species of insect coevolution
-C6H12O6 cannot tell atom structure
-molecule Z came from pancreas
-anemone and clownfish mutualism
-rattle snake was snake IV
-last snake question was 5
-DNA to RNA
-Decomposer are important part of ecosystem
-homologous chromosomes separate anaphase 1
-the conclusion about the moths showed birds were better at spotting light colored moths
-the hypothesis about the moths was correct

So far -3 wrong, omitted 1.

I’m hoping for at least a 750.

Shoot - I think I put 4. I wish I remembered what it was about.

Just a clarification guys, for the Meiosis graph, Did we all say E? The last graph.
