June 2010: Chemistry

Was that like the last question? was it on it’s own page? god i hope i didnt skip it

So, sorry to repeat this, but how many TTCE did everyone get?

Edit: @ihs. I remember getting I only.

…in 9g of LIQUID H2O

I. One mole of Hydrogen
II. 8.5g of Oxygen
III. 11.2L

There are .5 moles of H2O in 9g. So, there is 1 mole of Hydrogen. There is also .5 moles of Oxygen, which *16 yields only 8g of Oxygen.

It is a liquid (stated in the question), so it does not adhere to ideal gas laws.

does anyone remember the answer to the question that had answer choices like 2 moles of Ca2+ and a certain moles of water. sorry i dont remember the exact questions
and what did everyone get for the question that consisted of answer choices of like 11.2 L of H2O and 9g of H?

Oh well, that brings my maximum possible raw score to 81.5. CB better have an easy curve.

@ihs - The Ca2+ question was just I i think, but it might have also been III.
- The other question was just 2 mol of H+ ions, and NOT 11.2 L, because it’s a liquid, and they don’t apply to the ideal GAS equation.

does anybody remember that density question at 4C with ~35 g water+test tube and ~35-6 g of an organic substance + test tube and the volume was 10mL and you had to find the density of the organic substance?

did you guys get like .79 something?

.79 is the only one that made sense, as the grams decreased with the methyl alcohol (I think that was it?)

All of the other densities were >1.

Yeah, I am also wondering the same thing. How many TTCE did everyone get?

like 4-5

10char

@IAmCool - Yeah, but I think the answer choices were made so you don’t have to do calculations for this, just logic. They tell you that the gas takes up less mass in the same amount of volume, so you know its going to be less than the water, and the only option less than water was .79 g/L (or may have been .79 g/ML)

I got 5 TTCE, which makes me feel like I got at least one wrong. 1 on my left column; 4 on my right (3 of which were in a row…)

Hmm, I only got 2or 3, darn.

^i think if you scroll back through this thread (like 30 pages lmao) i remember people agreeing that there were 4 TTCE, 1 on the left column and 3 on the right column

what was the TTCE on the left column?

Last time I am going to ask this:
What page was the salt water (collig. properties) question on? I do not remember reading it.

I would appreciate going to bed tonight, not worrying about this, and you seem like nice guys, so I would appreciate a timely answer.

How are we supposed to know what page it was on? The question, almost word for word

What is true about a solution of water and NaCl (or a salt)?

I. It has a normal boiling point, the same as pure water.
II. It is denser than pure water.
III. It has a lower freezing point than pure water.

The answer was II and III. Either you remember it or you don’t…

@pdawggy nope, not the last page. I’d say it was somewhere in the middle after the 100s questions, maybe around 50ish

it was 57, i remember staring at it for a while and then finally picking II and III

i don’t remember that question at all, but reading it, why does the freezing point change but not the boiling pt?

edit: oh wait nvm, i read the question wrong haha

thanks alexa, that is all i can hope to get out of asking. I def remember checking my numbers after that, so I must have just forgotten about it. It’s not too memorable a question. why am i telling you guys any of this? You probably are all just looking for answers to your own questions. Ladidadida, I looovve crystal meth

AGAIN, some questions that are being discussed here MAY NOT have been on your test.

why not?
there are multiple versions?
