***June 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

There was a question about the dark matter passage that went something like, “The author suggests that dark matter is all of the following except:” and two of the answer choices were unverifiable and pervasive. I put that dark matter is not unverifiable, does anyone remember what the answer was for that one?

@Eggyolk‌ lolol i hate waiting though XD but you’re right haha. 3 weeks!
@juju76567‌ Math will be the same, if not harsher so like -1 is a 780. Writing -1 780, CR -3 780? no idea lolol

@hellousername123‌ The question with 3 squares said that x = 2y so that means x+x+y = 360. so 2y + 2y +y= 360

so 5y=360 and y=72 and x=2y=144 don’t know how you got 18

@sleepdeprived4 i put unverifiable for that one

@Eggyolk‌ No, the answer was definitely 36… x + x + y was not equal to 360.

I think it was for the publicity double passage, what did you guys put for the last question? Some answers were melodramatic and satirical.

For the Dark Matter passage did anyone put some thing like
“stars are less likely to be made of exotic materials that galaxies”???

@Eggyolk that’s what I got at first, but then I realized that the three squares contributed as well. Each corner of the square = 90 degrees, so it’s 2x + y + 3(90) = 360. And since x=2y, x=36

@blubrrybanana22‌ If that was the question about Passage 1’s tone as compared to that of Passage 2, the answer was balanced.

@sleepdeprived4‌ Please Explain… It was squares with the x and y being the angles in between the squares. Those angles make a full circle if you draw a curved line through them.

The angles are kind of like those in the picture just in different sizes. http://www.mathsisfun.com/images/angle360.gif

There 2 x’s and 1 y so x+x+y=360

Edit: oh didn’t see that… thanks @loves2ride‌ I guess that’s a wrong one for me. Or was it a grid-in?

@sleepdeprived4‌ thats what I put too haha

@sleepdeprived4‌ crap I think I read it as passage 2’s tone compared to passage 1’s

@Eggyolk‌ I’m not positive, but I think you’re forgetting about the squares – it would be 90(3) + x + x + x/2 = 360, and then solve for x.

@sleepdeprived4‌ Yeah @loves2ride explained. My bad :slight_smile: was it a grid-in?

@blubrrybanana22‌ I don’t remember the exact question, but I know the answer was definitely balanced. This is from the google doc re that question:

Was the answer that Passage 2 critiqued a claim in Passage 1? x1
Passage 1 was more balanced. Passage 2 only had one opinion. agree x18 NO! the answer was pssge 2 critiqued a claim because he crtizies the idealogy that we have “common sense” towards right of publicity
Passage 1 was more balanced because it took both viewpoints into consideration. Passage 2 just attacked the viewpoint of Passage 1.

@Eggyolk‌ I think it was, so at least you don’t get the 1/4 point off! :)

Ugghhh… part of why I hate these threads is the stress and frustration lol

@sleepdeprived4‌ I don’t think it’s the same question…but I’m not sure. I think the question you’re referring to was the first one?

@sleepdeprived4‌ that’s what I put

Aghhhhhhhhhh 2 wrong in math now I can only hope for as generous a curve as march (770= -2) but this is unlikely :((
