***June 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

I thought the vocab was pretty hard. On all the practice tests I knew the definitions, but on this test I had to make a few educated guesses

@humbugs not for me. the last 2 in every section were hard. out of 6 i skipped about 3 of them. i personally did not like the small reading passages. didn’t really get them that well. writing was fairly easy except on the sentence error i probably made 2-3 mistakes there and math was hard for me because I’m awful in math :-S

@sat2014‌ lol yeah i knew like all the vocab, but almost none of the passage answers.

also for the “hollywood was init described as”, i put shortsighted too.
because it failed to recognize that their suckier videos would have merit in the future and only thought that “they’re not relevant AT THE MOMENT” and tossed their videos.
iirc that was what the doc said, too.

edit: nevermind misread post

The vocab was easy to me. The only one I missed was the one with humbugs’ username in it :frowning: I knew I should’ve guessed pariah

@humbugs I put “intuition…” as well. My reasoning was like this: Within the passage, the author stated that the scientists were, perhaps, searching for too practical/narrow-minded a solution. The author suggested that, in his point of view, scientists would benefit from seeking answers elsewhere, answers that stemmed from slightly whimsical/intuitive thought (non-baryonic atoms and such). I chose “intuition…” over “technological progress/answers questions” because, since the enigma of dark matter hasn’t been answered yet, in that instance, technology didn’t answer much of anything.
EDIT: I believe the other answer choice was “technology brings up questions, as well as answers them”, contrary to what some others have stated.

No the answer choice definitely did not say that because that would be wrong lol @mizejonathan17‌

The intuition one is hard to prove because science doesn’t rely on intuition as much as it lies on fact. The technology answer said something like “technology can answer questions but also raises them” This can easily be supported by the passage because technology showed them that something like dark matter probably existed but leaves them to infer what it actually is. Well that’s what I think but I see your point

once again all of us can at least try to explain why we picked a certain answer choice. the answer choices for the passage questions were very tricky in my opinion. what did you guys think of the short passages?

The short ones were ok to me

realistically, i skipped a total of 5 total on the CR and i think i got anywhere from 8-15 total wrong. hopefully i don’t get more than 11 wrong. hope that’s good enough for a 600. i want 650+ in writing. the writing was too easy not to get a good score

“technology brings up questions, as well as answers them” is essentially the same as “technology can answer questions but also raises them”… I don’t see how those are very different

Does anyone remember exactly what the question was? Did it say “it could be inferred that” or did it say “the passage as a whole implies that”? Either answer can be right depending on the question.

Those are different because it assumes that technology can answer the questions it brings up @mizejonathan17‌

Technology can answer questions but it also brings up more

how many times have you guys taken the sat and was this time your last time?

I’ve taken it once! I think this will be final unless I decide to take it in November. If this score isn’t what I need (it probably won’t be) I’ll just focus on the ACT in September

@Jellybae this was number 3 for me. the first two times i regret taking them because i wasn’t prepared 100% at the time. if my math score comes back too low, i might take it a 4th and final time in october. what do you think you got on this sat? I’m feeling 1830

@sat2014 I’m confident I improved in every section except cr. I’m not sure whether I improved in that one or not. I got an 1850 my first time (I really wish I had just moved my test date to June because I really wasn’t ready for that test) and I’m expecting between 1900 and 2100 for this one. I really hope I hit 2000 though because I really want a bike…

@Jellybae‌ haha my parents promised me universal studios if I pulled a perfect score. 99.99% sure that’s not gonna happen

@Jellybae what was the breakdown for the 1850? my first score was a 1570 460 CR 520 M and 530 W with an 8 essay. the one in May was a 1630 570 in CR 520 in M and 540 in W with a 9 essay this time I feel I got a 580 in CR 570 in M and a 680 in W.

@humbugs‌ heh heh my dad didn’t promise me anything I just tripped him into it and now he can’t back out because I made him pinky promise xD

@sat2014‌ i had a 600 CR, 660 Math and 590 W. I was really surprised because on my psat my math scores were always waayyy lower than my reading and writing. But then again I just completed algebra 2 this year so

@‌Jellybae Yeah, I agree with that, but I could have sworn it said “brings up questions” first. Maybe I’m just crazy. Anyhow, I’ll let you guys know the answers once I get the Q&A service
