@mizejonathan17 what does the Q+A service give you? all the questions on the sat and their respective answers? and what is the thing you pay an extra $13 dollars for? i did that all three times but never got anything in the mail…

How did you get the Q&A service? :o @mizejonathan17

I’ve been creeping on the ACT thread. The test looks like it’s changing D: god dammit I should probably just stick to the SAT then. That may mean I may not get to apply early goodbye selective schools

i just found a PDF file with an actual SAT that was used before. http://file.xdf.cn/soft/120510/146_1113044362.pdf

section 3 vocab is completely ridiculous. never seen that hard of vocab even though i now know some of those words

@Jellybae I just selected that option when I registered. I think it was about 6 or 7 extra dollars.

@sat2014 Wow, yeah, I guess it was $13… You should have received your test and a score report with the respective answers/grid ins in the in the mail about 2-3 months after the test date.

Do you guys think If I strongly established my stance on the topic, provided 2 examples (not the best examples), had correct mechanics and wrote 1 2/3 pages, I would get an 8 on the essay? Im asking this because I know some people who are pretty strong arguers but they got a 6 on the essay, granted 1 said he only wrote a page and had to stop in the middle of a paragraph.

Yeah, I would say so. The essay I wrote in January was barely 1 1/4 pages and only had two (fairly weak too) examples; I got a 7 on that one. I’d say at the very least 6-7, but I bet you have a high chance of getting an 8-9.

@mizejonathan17 so far I haven’t gotten anything

@LOLBeast1 as long as you provide good details about your examples you should get an 8 at least. The essay i find to be the easiest because i consistently get nothing lower than an 8 or 9. I typically write until I write out of space but I think ahead when I start running out of room

@sat2014 That’s odd; it must have gotten lost in the mail or something.

I was thinking and I was like theres no way my essay would get a 3, but theres no way it would get a 5. So I’m hoping for an 8.

what have you guys done to prepare for the SAT? i did the blue book and a kaplan book with 12 practice SATS

I worked through BB practice tests and used online resources like sparknotes, Testive, number 2 and (kind of) PwntheSAT. I also borrowed 2400 in just 7 steps from a friend. I really wanted to buy the books off of PwntheSATs recommended list but they were so expensive :(

looking back, i don’t think i did that well on the reading passage questions the one about the best term to describe slip i put elude, it should of been pass and the question about the ethopian guys hubris i put sight. i still don’t know what’s the right answer if he was in awe or if he was confused

Aha! I found the dark matter article. It’s called “In Search of Dark Matter” by Ken Freeman. It’s the prologue. applause

After reading thoroughly through the article, I think the “brings up more questions” choice is correct. The passage says nothing about intuition vs. empirical evidence :(

Was the answer choice “intuition” DIRECTLY SUPPORTED by the dark matter passage?

If it isn’t, it is most likely incorrect.

I’m just glad there were no damn psychology questions, like “How did this author feel about this”? It’s almost impossible to find direct proof for such inquiries.
