I took the SAT for the first time, with little to no prep. :-S the essay felt fine to me; I was able to easily recall a suitable literary example. Other than that it’s not even that it felt difficult it, it was just so looooooonnngggg. And the “Dark Matter” passage absolutely killed me.

It wasn’t a passage it was an improving sentence question!!! The sentence was “Ruth Behar blah blah blah certain countries, blah interested blah culture”

Apparently the oct 2012 sat had a really harsh curve. -3 raw= 700. Ouch. I really hope it’s not that bad this time

i just hope my writing score makes up for my other 2 scores… for the 14 question writing one, did you guys put D for number 13?

@humbug was that for math? o.0

oh yeah, that was the writing section

Omg I was looking up curves on here too humbugs! Usually the June curves are average/lenient so I’m hoping that stays true for this one

I wish this was my first SAT because I feel like the march me would’ve been prepared for this one. The march sat shattered me, my hopes and my dreams

@Jellybae twins! I know the curves are predetermined, so it can’t have anything to do with which students are taking them in june. Lol was the march test really that hard?

CR and Math made me bawl and then writing came in sweetly until scores came out and it backhanded me into next week.

I’m looking at last year’s scores and the curve was soooo nice! I can only hope we get that

I’m taking the SAT one final time in October and that’s it. I think I’ll be better prepared for math but I don’t expect as easy of a writing section and I expect the vocab to be much harder but I hope the reading passages will be manageable and the answer choices to be decent. how were the curves for march and may of this year?

@sat2014 idk about the past curves but I’m taking the SAT in oct if my scores aren’t satisfactory also. not related, but my friend told me about this really tricky problem from the last one:

A man buys 13 chairs from the store and needs to take them home. He can only fit 3 chairs in his car at a time. The distance between his home and the store is 7 miles. What is the LEAST amount of miles he needs to travel in order to take all his chairs home?

Holy ■■■■, -3 wrong (-4 composite) and a 9 essay is a 690 - 730.

Seems like writing could have a ■■■■■■■■ curve than math.

Isn’t it 63 miles? I did this in my head sorry if I’m off a bit @humbugs

I really wish the SAT was actually curved (not predetermined)… that way when thousands of unprepared students take the test, I reap maximum benefits :D

@Jellybae could you pls give a link for the past June curves? I could only see ones for May, October, March, and December but not June for some reason =)) =)) =; :-< >:/ :bz [-X :-" :-L >-) 8-X *- *- ~:> ~:> :@) :@) :ar! :o3 :-h :O)

@Jellybae is too smart. Apparently a lot of people were fooled by that because they just did 14*5= 70. the trick was that the guy doesn’t need to drive back to the store the last time

Waaaat I thought the curve depends on the kids

Anyway this is the thread I’m looking at! <a href=“***official june 2013 sat 1 score thread*** - SAT Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1516117-official-june-2013-sat-1-score-thread-p1.html their curve was glorious

Oooo I see how that can be tricky. I probably would have done that too

hopefully our curve will be favorable at least for critical reading. hope for math too! writing not so much but that’s ok.

We should make a thread like this when it nears the 26th (half rhyme!). How do you know the curve though? Was it because everyone’s scores were pretty good?

haha I had that question on my January sat. You had to make sure to draw it out!

For the dark matter one I was almost certain it was the intuition over empirical evidence answer because I distinctly remember the passage talking about how there wasn’t any proof that it was dark matter, they just inferred?? I do remember being stuck between the two but I had like 10 min extra and i used that to just look over that question. But idk we’ll see haha!!
