@markj4994 your 35 for reading is goals! Do you have any tips you could give?
Honestly, read the passage first despite claims to contrary. If u have an understanding of it then u can do all of the questions quicker.
Also, for the main idea type questions or main function of paragraph it’s usually the one with the least details in it.
Also, wear a watch and check it frequently. For example, if u start at 8:30, then u should be reading the second passage by 8:39. (9 minutes per passage ish). I plan on wearing a watch on Saturday and I am hoping for a 36 on reading and 34 composite.
Also, I know you’ve heard this before but try to be very focused. Thankfully on test day it’s right after a break of 10 minutes.
Would u happen to know any tips for science?
@markj4994 okay thank you so much! And no I don’t really have many tips, I’m sorry! All I can is that the passage before the figures and charts aren’t much help so I don’t read them unless there’s a specific question that can’t be answered using the charts. Then I just skim the passage.
For the multiple viewpoints one, I read the first one and answer the questions for that viewpoint and so on.
I’m not sure what else I can tell you, I’m sorry!
Make sure you pay attention to what the graphs and figures are representing
@markj4994 the ones I usually miss for reading are ones I was stuck between two on. How do you make sure you pick the right answer?
@LetsGoPats There are a few new writing test forms online, and I’ve practiced those. But other than that, I fear there isn’t much else.
if u are suck between two answer choices, pick the one ur gut is leaning towards and move on because you’ll run out of time.
I started studying for the act again this week and i was wondering if anybody else scored much higher on the 4th science section in the real act book 3rd edition over the 3rd science section? Yesterday i took the 3rd one and got a 32 after finishing all the questions when i ran out of time and i took the 4th test today and i finished within the time limit and got a 36?I’m scared that this one was a fluke???
Would anyone be willing to read an essay I wrote and critique it for me?
@doctorgirl28 You can send it to me, I’m no expert though :))
At this point I just have a bunch of dumb mistakes I make on the test, only thing that’s holding me back from a 34
How much do your science scores vary? I printed an online test today and scored a 26. But, just two days ago I scored a 34. I’m usually scoring about 31. I don’t know what happened today…
Hey guys!
Real quickly, I heard someone say that the June SAT is usually a little bit easier- or grades tend to be a little bit higher, with the last test before summer. Is this true for the ACT? Should we expect a rather hard/easy test, or is there no way to tell? Thanks!
I would say there is no way to tell. But, usually June ACT scores are higher for some peculiar reason.
I’m honestly feeling really good about this test even though I’ve barely prepped. I think I’ve gotten so used to testing with APs+subject tests over the last 2 months that my standardized-testing-stress no longer exists
I just took the first practice test in the new red book and got a 35 so I’m feeling pretty good and hopefully I do as well on Saturday! I’m nervous though
@deeeznuts I feel the same! After my 2nd ap test I got the hang of it and realized that I shouldn’t stress so much over it
I’ve always heard June is the easiest too, but I really don’t believe any certain test date is always “easier” or “harder” than others. Scores could be higher because students aren’t stressing over other courses to study for, so that could account for some of it.
A lot of if the test is “easy” really depends on the person. Friends & I constantly disagree on what sections are harder/easier. The level of difficulty on tests like reading often depends on how interested the reader is in the subjects. I usually struggle with the Humanities passages because I’m not interested in stuff like that, but during the April State test I found that particular passage to be more interesting than usual. My scores proved it - I scored a 16 on the Arts/Literature subscore when I usually score around a 13. If math is geometry-heavy, I usually find math to be “easier” than other friends because I did well in geometry while they didn’t.
For the essay, I seem to be having problems coming up with specific examples to support my perspectives… Any advice for that? Though it’s probably just something I need to work on haha
I don’t know if I may be ovestudying or not.
On the 2013-2014 Practice Test a little bit ago:
-33 English
-34 Math
-35 Reading
-30 Science
December 2015 real test:
-havent done english yet
-31 Math
-32 Reading
-30 Science
I am so dissapointed i went down because I made careless errors that cost me about 2-3 points on reading and math. On math, I juts made a couple errors there were only 3 i just could not get. I am trying for a 34 on math on saturday. On reading, I just wasn’t paying close enough attention and made some errors. I am trying for a 35-36 on reading on saturday. On science I am just trying to crack a 30 with english a 35-36. I want my composite to be a 34+ on test day or have people done a couple (2) points better than expected, particularly through good concentration on reading? Or am i totally shut out of 34? Any advice?
I’ve never scored that high before but I can tell you that you’ll do better on the real test than practice test. I was consistently getting 24’s on the practice tests and I got a 27 when I took it in March. I’m getting around a 28 now and I’m hoping for a 32.
Hi
Im an international candidate for the ACT, does anyone know if the international ACT papers are reused Us ACT papers. Also is the international ACT harder or easier.
Thanks
