~~JUNE 2017 ACT DISCUSSION~~

Do you guys have any ideas how to score better in science and reading section? I was panic and omitted about 5 in each section. I hope the score will not be so bad, 29-30 composite is more than enough :((

I knew that all the answers for reading are definitely in the passage, but it took me so much time to skim and I was lost during the test. For the science part, it surprised me because the questions were longer and much much more difficult than those in April Form 74F (I sucked at that biology - flower part and conflicting viewpoints questions.)

I want to retake ACT this September, so can you guys give me any advice how to get 32-33 in these two parts to boost my composite score? Thank you so much!

I studied for the ACT and when I took my test it was actually pretty difficult…
For me, this is how it went:

English: SUPER EASY! I was honestly so confused on how it wasn’t that difficult? The time was a problem though… but I probably missed maybe 5-10 not sure,

Math: Not that bad… it wasn’t the best and it wasn’t the worst.

Reading: HOLY CRAP?! THAT WAS HARDDDD!!! I thought… it would be easier than this. I thought it would ask the same thing the SAT did, like evidence based questions… the ACT reading was a nightmare! The time constraint was awful and it was asking questions that you’d need more than 3 minutes to do?!

Science: I’m not getting started on this one… it was really difficult. I thought you didn’t need outside knowledge?! Holy crap! It was really hard!

Writing: It wasn’t bad at all

Overall: The ACT June 2017 WAS REALLY DIFFICULT! Anyone think the same?? I really hope I end up with a decent score…

I had form 74C
English: not too bad, about as expected. allusion/illusion was something i hadn’t seen, but it wasn’t too bad. Goal is 34
Math: always easy for me, only like 1 question that i got wrong (hoping that still gets me a 36)
Reading: always my weakest, barely finished, was kinda hard. Goal is 32
Science: I didn’t think it was too bad actually. Goal is 35
Writing: hated the prompt, but i think my essay was good. Goal is 9+

It was my first time taking it, i think it went over pretty well

Yes, I thought it was difficult as well. Significantly more difficult than most practice tests or any actual ACT I’ve taken. The English had an abundance of style/rhetorical skills question, but I didn’t think it was awful. Reading was on the harder side but not awful. Science was pretty difficult, also. I thought math was incredibly hard. I wasn’t able to finish the last 5 questions, and know a missed a couple beforehand. I’m hoping there is an easier curve for math.

Just focus a lot on timing; it’s the hardest thing with this test. In reading, don’t read for detail; read for speed. Everything you need to get out of the passage will be very basic. In science, you really have to master whatever strategy you have. I just usually glance at the first sentence of the passage so I at least know what I am looking at, and then move into the questions. I don’t have much advice for math, because I’m still working on that, but, for English, just try to use common sense and trust your gut feeling whenever you don’t know the answer.

anyone’s status changed to tested? mine still says registered. Any estimation of when this will change??

First batch of scores come out at 1am EST on Sunday night/Monday morning, correct?

I’ve got Tuesday, the 20th as the date they start coming out.

Oh shoot, you’re right. I meant Monday night/Tuesday morning…

I’m confused because the ACT website says that the first scores come out June 19th, and it seems like scores usually come out 10 days after the testing date, but the testing date was the 10th…

As for difficulty of the test, I think that the math section was more difficult than normal. I think I still did really well, but I only finished with 5 minutes left when I usually finish with 15-17 minutes left. Everything else seemed pretty standard to me. English also had some more of the organization questions than I expected.

The test was on the 10th of June. So ten days is the 19/20th june (1 am ET)

Status just changed… Tested in Pennsylvania. Just wanna get these test scores!!!

Does the status change to tested? Son’s portal looks different but doesn’t say tested.

Tested in CA.
So relieved.
We waited six weeks for April’s results. And there is scholarship money ( for her summer program) if she does well!

Just looked again. Changed to tested. Son is a rising junior. Just got off this rollercoaster with my second son. Here we go again!

My status is also “tested”. In Ohio.

Tested in NC.

Tested in GA

My testing status still says Registered and it’s already 4:19PM on June 19. Does anyone have the same issue?

@shantacorn if it still says registered then your scores probably won’t come out tonight, but there is still time for it to change to tested.

you might have to wait until the next batch of scores is released.
