~~JUNE 2017 ACT DISCUSSION~~

just to start talking ab it

ACT in 6 days. Are the practice tests on prepscholar legit?

I got a 15 my first time. Is there any hope at scoring a 20?

@UjaynLukin i’ve been using the prep scholar tests, the crackact math practice, and the free princeton review test. i like the princeton review the best because it’s all online and has a great interface

@hawk18 if you study hard enough lol what were your section scores

@hawk18 Buy the official ACT 2018 Practice Book, read the tips, take all the practice tests, and review the questions you got wrong.

@hawk18 Right now take as many practice tests as you can from crack act dot c o m. If you find you have time, take the test untimed once and review every single answer you got wrong. If you score below a 20 on a section untimed, you need to work on understanding the concepts. If not, you need to work on timing. There’s a video on youtube called “How I raised my ACT score 12 points.” This individual was able to go from an 18 to a 30. You can too with enough studying. Your score probably won’t increase by Saturday, but if you retake later you should see improvements.

I’ve been getting 33-34 on my ACT practice tests but yesterday I got a 32… Not good when you score lower than usual like the day before the test because then you start to panic… .

I just started reading my Barron’s book today… rip

I’m hollering. What was that??? :((

My instructor said not to put down the form # and fill in the bubble, anyone else cause I’m kind of freaking out?

@NursingMan That’s…odd. Maybe he planned to do it for the students instead? You should contact your testing facility and ask them what happened there.

So I’m guessing the scores will either be delayed or canceled in my classroom. Another student asked the instructor if we were to fill out the form number and she replied “It doesn’t say anywhere in here to fill that out” and we continued with the test

@NursingMan My instructor told me that if the information on the front of the answer sheet is filled out incorrectly that the test will be delayed by a few weeks, so I doubt that they would just throw away the scores. Still, that’s really annoying. Mine even said that they didn’t tell her the protocol for administering the test, they just gave her the booklet and put her in a room.

Okay how did we do?
In my opinion, the Math section was significantly easier than any practice test I took. There were only about 5 questions I couldn’t do right off the bat. But the Science section was significantly more difficult? The main problem I had was that I ran out of time and couldn’t look closely enough at some questions that I skipped; I just had to guess. The first section in particular too complicated. I don’t think there’s a chance I got higher than a 30 in that section unless I was particularly lucky. I’m projecting a 33 composite. I’m definitely signing up for the September date, luckily all of the schools I’m looking at do superscoring.

From hardest to easiest… I think:

-Science (I got carried away trying to figure some early questions)
-Reading (Time was an issue)
-Math (Time was an issue… about 6 I had to guess on lol OOPS. Pretty easy to figure out most though)
-English (Always my favorite section)
-Writing (I HATED THE PROMPT UGH)

Holy!!! Science was a lot more difficult on this one!

@covfefe If it explicitly says it’s allowed on the ACT website (which it does) then I don’t think your instructor can you tell you that you can’t use it.

I had a proctor who couldn’t speak. She literally mumbled. All we heard come from her mouth was, “fhuidso.” I am not even lying. Very disappointed. Hard to keep track of time!!! And it was so hot in the classroom I was in. UGH. Nightmare lol. I’m in college. I’m looking to transfer… I don’t know why I put myself through this again.

This was my first time taking it, and I was expecting Science to be a breeze. I’ve gotten 34-36 on every science practice test I’ve taken, and I couldn’t understand why everyone was saying it was so difficult. Honestly, this science section was exceptionally difficult, but I do have to wonder if it would have seemed easier if it wasn’t the very last section of the test. As well as if that’s the reason why everyone makes it out to be so difficult. On this science section, there seemed to be a multitude of questions that could not reasonably be inferred from the text. Not in the sense that they’re testing your science knowledge, either, just asking you things that were at no point mentioned in the passage.

@aznboi4981
I definitely agree that the first passage was stupidly difficult, especially the last handful of questions. It completely threw me for a loop right off the bat.
