June ACT - Curve Predictions?

First, I'd like to know what you guys thought about the test.

As for me, I thought the English was pretty easy. I'm expecting the curve to go down by 1s.

Math was the hardest one I've taken so far, but I think I 36'd it this time. I thought there were some really tricky ones, so I feel like the curve will be pretty generous, possibly even -1 = 36?

Reading...
This section has always given me trouble. I've not broken the 33 mark.
I've taken this test 4 times already, 5 now.
I've gotten 30, 33, 33, 31...
Unfortunately, I feel like this reading section was even harder than the last one I took, on which I got a 31.
So... PLEASE let it be a generous curve, my dear ACT testmaker :)

Science:
I've done better on each test.
However, I'm almost certain that my science score dropped this time. Last time, I thought I aced it, but I got a 34. (This was the April 2011 test)
I feel like I missed, like, 5 on this test. And as we all know, science curves are rarely lenient.

So,

English: -1 35, -2 34, -3 34, -4 33, then go down by ones maybe?
Math: -1 36, -2 35, -3 34, -4 34, then down by ones.
Reading: -1 36, -2 35, -3 35, -4 34, -5 33, then down by ones.
Science (ideally...): -1 35, -2 34, -3 33, -4 32, and keep going down by ones.

Please post your thoughts!

no idea really. what was the answer for the LCD (with the huge numbers) on math? like with the exponents and all that. i thought i 36’d too but i might’ve gotten it wrong…(even though it made sense to me). some people are saying it was the last (and largest demonimator number value) answer choice but i got the second to last (2nd-largest denominator number value) answer choice listed.

also, does the essay score factor into your english score? or does it just stand alone, separate from english?

i agree that math will probably be -1 as a 36, since so many people found it challenging. reading, i know you can get 2 wrong and still get a 26 (that’s set). science, ive heard u cant get any wrong for a 36 (but then again, they could curve it, and it seems as though many thought it was hard). english, idk, but theres a lot of questions so theres probably some room for error.

The essay does not factor the essay into your English score or your Composite score. The ACT board instead uses your essay score (on a scale of 2-12) combined with your English score to calculate the “Combined English/Writing” score which is on a 36 scale. It does not factor into your composite though so it is basically separate.

Ohhh, okay. I know a kid with a 35 composite (36 English) but got an 8 on the essay

I put the largest one for the LCD.
I tested the 2nd largest and it didn’t work with the denominator of the middle number given out of the three. It gave a decimal.

I don’t believe that the -2 36 on reading is a set curve. I don’t remember any of the Red Book tests having that curve, but maybe I’m wrong.
Either way, I don’t think the ACT has any for sure curve on any of the tests.

that seems to be the consensus (the largest denom). damn it. i reaaaalllllyy want a 36 on math!

You probably did ALMOST ace it last time. The science curve was -1 = 34 :/

@liv, don’t give up hope just yet!! Everyone does seem to think that was harder than normal. So -1 could be a 36!

ARE YOU SERIOUS JALLI?!?!?!
That’s freaking brutal.
Let’s PLEASE not get a curve anything like that for this test.

@Mikeypz - I believe you’re right about the curve. In a practice test I got it was -1, -2 35, so most definitely not a -2 36 on that one.

Got it.
I think if there ever was a -2 36, then it’d be skipped at 35 or 34.
So it would be -2 36, -3 35, -4 33…
or -3 34, -4 33, etc

So the leniency would only really benefit those who normally score high anyways.

Oh well!
Two weeks. I haven’t been looking through the other threads started to check my answers yet. I’m pretty proud of myself for that
Whatever happens, happens!

i’m actually really excited to see my score! i really think i did well. and no random guessing, not finishing, or confusion this time :)

Any chance -1 for science is a 36?

from what i’ve heard, science (for some reason) tends to be the most harsh. to get a 36, you cant get any wrong (unless, by some miracle, the ACT decides to curve it this time around…which is POSSIBLE seeing as most people on here seems to have found it at least a bit difficult)

I thought English was about the same as the Red Book tests, maybe a little easier.
The Math was much harder than normal so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was -1=36
The Reading wasn’t bad at all this time around, still think it will be a nice curve since most of the reading tests I have taken are all curved pretty well…like -1=36 or something good like that!
Science was about as hard as I find all of the other ones…which is super hard lol. I’m hoping for a nice curve on this one

English: I thought that this one was pretty standard… at least comparable to the ones in the Red Book. So maybe a -1=35 kind of thing? I don’t think I’ve ever seen an English curve to be -1=36, so that would be highly improbable.
-1=35 -2=34 -3=33 and so on.

Math: This was SO HARD. Well… harder than usual to say the least. The last 20 were so tedious and ugh. There goes my 36.
-1=36 -2=35 -3=34 -4=34 and so on.

Reading: I thought this was pretty challenging, too. Harder than the practice tests I took anyways.
-1=36 -2=35 -3=34 -4=33 and so on.
*By the way, Practice Test 3 in the Red Book has a reading curve -2=36.

Science: This was hard. The physics one screwed me up so much.
-1=35 -2=34 -3=32(?) and so on.

Hmm, yeah, I don’t think English has ever been -1 36.
I think a lenient English curve would be something like -1 35, -2 35, -3 34, etc…
But since English was pretty easy, the curve should be standard? Just going down by ones!

@Cant, thanks for looking that up!
Hopefully we’ll get one like that this time :)

As for science, if I can just get a curve that goes down by ones, I would be more than happy…

I’ve never seen a case where you didn’t need a perfect score in either English or Science for the 36 – a harsh science curve is a -1 34. Reading typically has a -1 36 and -2 36’s have occurred. Last June’s math curve was a -1 36.

i have a feeling -1 on math this time around will equate to a 36 again. whats -3 reading?

I’m pretty sure the lowest -3 on Reading ever has been on normal tests is 33. I’d say this time it’d be a -3 = 34.
But that’s just me. I’ve never gotten past 33 on Reading. Hah.
So my curve predictions may be a little too hopeful?

maybe. but i agree that the curves will probably be a but more lenient this time around.

do you guys think a 35 act will offset a 3.7 unweighted (all honors/aps) gpa?
