**June SAT U.S. History Post Test Discussion**

Spain is without doubt the right answer to the exploration question. The question asked which was the first country to SYSTEMATICALLY explore the new world, being Spain. Portugal was present but the Treaty of Torsedillas cut down on their colonization

For the graph about domestic product and export. Was it that America has a favorable balance of trade?

it was polio…smallpox vaccine was found in the 18th century

practical-it was that the imports were the same at outbreaks of war

They were the same. it was practically equal in around 1920 and around 1944. The answer that was “wrong” and thus right was the one that said imports outpaced exports.

awww k. But for the graph. The domestic imports were significantly lower than the exports? Doesn’t that mean a favorable balance of trade?

@quincyboy7: I don’t remember Polio as an answer unless it goes by a different name…

thats what i got^…for colony government i put board of trade but pretty sure it was wrong

Yes. but the answer was to pick which observation was wrong about the graph

they did have a favorable balance, which is why it wasnt the right answer to the EXCEPT question. So far I have like 4-8 wrong, so I’m feeling good. I thought this test was a little harder, but essentially fair. Bit too much emphasis on early colonization… felt like ap world/euro questions…

For the board of trade question. Wasn’t it that boards used their money to control the governor?

its said about the time of war im almost positive that answer is right

I put that the colonies originally had more power over governors and then this declined.

are you guys sure it was cult of domesticity i thought it was education

I know I missed several already: Immigration (South and East Europe), the Cattle (i didnt see “decline”, so i put decline in demand), smallpox (it was polio), JFK/Nixon/McCarthy (i put old-line even though nixon is from CA and the latter from MN), and probably the cotton question (I put tobacco expanding westward, thinking that tobacco wasn’t labor-intensive)

…is 5 wrong possible for an 800? It’s 6 wrong if the answer is Portugal over Spain, but I think Spain is right.

Also, the new states being equal was Northwest Ordinance right? And poor urban was Jacob Riis?

It was polio. The answer they gave was poliomyletis.

And the graph trade one was definitely imports outpaced exports, it’s clearly false

What was the board of trade question answer?

how many can you get wrong and still get 800?

@cortana: I should have saw that one…I even thought Polio but didn’t recognize poliomyletis.

-8/9

10char
