Was Carter not reelected for president because of the Iran Hostage Crisis? That’s what I put.

And also, was an effect of the New Deal that African Americans started voting for the Republican PArty?

I don’t recall there being a specific question about the new deal effect on voters…

No cortana, it created an increased membership of labor unions

dam. what about the iran hostage crisis and carter? is that right

What were all the answer choices for the colonial assembly and governor question? I put the one where colonies gained power at the expense of the government.

New Deal made African American voters vote DEMOCRAT… But, I think the question was “The Great Depression caused which of the following” and I think it was … forcing women to find work… Cause labor union membership decreased a lot until the wagner act…

is my answer to the colony thing correct??

Bart, there were atleast two answers which said colonists gained power at the expense of the governor…

really? can others confirm that?

Wasn’t there an answer about assemblies being able to control the salary of the governor? Or am I just making that up?

And do any of you remember an EXCEPT question where the answer was the Watergate scandal? or is it just me?

In response to Genericana’s list:

I only differed on a few answers:

I got that wrong (I was caught between two choices and changed it at the last minute)

For the reasons Spain colonized, I said they did not colonize for European dominance, because I figured they were looking for new markets (although it seems I may be wrong)

I agree with Catharine Beecher, so was the answer that she was promoting women’s education (which she did in many books, need for “virtuous and intelligent” women") or the use of women’s morality to influence politics? I put women’s education, and Catharine Beecher was an ardent advocate of this.

Does anyone remember the other choices for the question about what did not hppen during the first three years of the Great Depression?

For the mandate to conduct war, I put UN resolutions in Korea, not Gulf of Tonkin resolution, because the US never declared war in Vietnam

For the slave dot map, I am not sure if it is agricultural centers or the use of the railroad/trains to expand slavery (because there were many slaves in western territories/states on the map like Louisiana and Texas) I was constantly switching between the two.

Other than those I have all of the same answers. What score would a -8 be (I assume I probably got a couple others wrong that I don’t remember)?

what were all of the choices for the joint stock company question?

@highschool1213:

-Regarding Spain’s reasons for colonization: It may seem strange to us today to think of Spain trying to dominate Europe, but in the 1500s it was a real possibility. Maritime power was more important than it is now, and Spain and Britain were the two main competitors for the title of “mistress of the seas”. Acquiring colonies in the Western hemisphere allowed Spain to expand their treasuries and achieve greater control of the Atlantic trade routes, which increased their capacity to make war. That is why the British defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588 is so important to European history, because it signaled that Spain no longer had dominance over the sea and therefore no hope of dominating Europe.

-For the Catherine Beecher passage, I remember there being two questions: one that asked you to identify the author (Beecher) and one that asked for a social movement/philosophy that it was associated with (Cult of Domesticity). Unless I remembered the questions wrong, and feel free to correct me if I did.

-The other choices for the Great Depression question were: unsold inventories, loss of confidence in the stock market, less investment in capital goods, less production.

-The question about the Tonkin Gulf Resolution asked which gave the PRESIDENT the mandate to conduct a war. The UN resolution on Korea authorized military action by the United States, but it never says anything about delegating authority to the President; the UN would have no reason to do that anyway. The reason the Tonkin Gulf Resolution is important to US history is that it expanded the President’s power to conduct wars without congressional oversight, which is why the War Powers Resolution was passed a decade later.

-I don’t remember much about the slave map, but I know that the locations of slaves couldn’t have had much to do with railroads because the South didn’t have many railroads before the Civil War.

Depending on the curve, -8 may very well be good enough for an 800. For both of our sakes, I hope it is.

^Yes you remembered the beecher question wrong…one question asked for the movement as well as the author ex: Catharine Beecher/Cult of Domesticity, and the other question asked what she wanted through the context of the passage (morality affecting men)

Now can someone please tell me what the answer choices were for the question about how england and spain were different (answer Joint stock)?

Thanks for correcting me, I had a feeling i was missing out on something in the Catherine Beecher discussion.

I don’t remember the other answer choices for that question, sorry. I think one of them had something to do with mercantilism, another had something to do with religion. That’s all I got.

Does anyone remember the identify the novel with it’s correct setting or something?

I put Grapes of Wrath, and Huckleberry Finn was one of the choices

@pch340, the answer to that question was A farewell to arms

and can anyone confirm my answer about the colony/govna thing? (See previous page) and the question at the top?

Generica, do you mean -8 as in 8 questions wrong? Or a raw score of 82?

A raw score of 82 is a guaranteed 800, I think.

8 questions wrong is pushing it, but with everyone saying this test is harder than in previous years, hopefully the curve will change to reflect that. In that case, a raw score of 80 might barely qualify for an 800 as well.
