I just recently rediscovered my college confidential account from years back and figured with the recent ED release I would start a thread. This is my third year at Columbia, please feel free to ask any questions you may have about the academics or social life or whatever! Currently studying for finals and thought this would be a nice way to procrastinate, hope I can help.

How was Orgo Night?

I was there, personally thought it was hilarious, jokes got a little too rape-y at one point but was otherwise in good humor. My feelings are definitely best summed up by this op-ed: <a href=“How Columbia turned conservative - Columbia Spectator”>http://columbiaspectator.com/opinion/2014/12/12/how-columbia-turned-conservative. As for the groups offended, I respect that but feel they don’t have the right to both speak for their entire demographic (whether black, gay, etc) and cancel a campus tradition. It’s quite easy to just not go.

Hi! I just have a few questions.

Why did you choose Columbia?

What do you like about it?

What do you not like about it?

They claim a holistic approach do their applications, but is there anything that they REALLY consider?

Sorry for so many pestering questions; I’m currently a junior in High School, and now that the first semester is over I’m starting to panic about college. -_- I’m trying to decide if Columbia is the right match for me. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!

What are the unofficial entrance requirements to get into Columbia? (In terms of GPA, SAT and ACT scores and other metrics like that)

Also, I am thinking of majoring in a the same subject field, so any advice before I continue on the higher education trek (I am a high school junior)?

Thanks for your time and willingness to help others!
