I'm gonna be here for an hour. Go.

lol!..awww..darn it..missed the hour....

Exactly how hard it is???
Is it hard to get an A????
How much participation is there in class discussion???
How much money do you think you need to have fun????

what year are you?

what is the best sophomore dorm (furnald aside)?

what's harder: lit hum or CC?

how do i get into the underground tunnels?

describe the Wien walk-in double

who's Jeremy Goren?

how many presentations have you done so far at Columbia?

1) It's pretty hard. I mean I still have time to go out. But people do different things. I have a 3.71 which is good here, and so I care more about grades than some other people. It's definitely possible to go out 4 nights a week and pull a 3.4. It also depends on the year, junior year has been really hard for me, but its cuz I'm taking 6 classes this semester. You can control how hard it is.

2) A's are hard in some classes and easy in others. Same in all colleges.

3) Some classes are lectures with no participation, some are more intimate with all participation (like CC, Lit Hum, Language Classes, etc.). Participation is overrated in my opinion, I would rather be able to relax and not talk since I'm tired in the mornings.

4) Don't worry about the money. I don't know how much I spend. I spend mostly on dinners and food, not really on fun. I mean, beer is cheap and going to bars, unless you are rich, you won't be spending more than $20. You can always get a job on campus if you have to have more money.

1) Jr
2) Depends. If you want a suite, Ruggles.
3) They're the same.
4) Underground tunnels are pretty much a myth.
5) It's like a single with a door to another single. Better than a double, worse than a single.

6) I don't know.

Presentations? Not that many. Probably like 6, with 4 of them coming from Italian class like you'd expect in a language class.

Move your asses and post questions, I'm being generous here! hehehhe

when are fall semester grades usually released for students to check on SSOL?

do students get to find out what they get on the final exam? or do that have to be arranged with your professor

"4) Don't worry about the money. I don't know how much I spend. I spend mostly on dinners and food, not really on fun. I mean, beer is cheap and going to bars, unless you are rich, you won't be spending more than $20. You can always get a job on campus if you have to have more money."

1) Are you saying you spend that much without a job? Did you have a pile of extra money when you went in or what?

2) The price will probably be the most important factor for me. My family makes a good deal but we have a large mortgage on the house. How much will they count the house against our assets (considering we still have a lot to pay off) for financial need determinations?

I need a job this summer, how good is Center for Career Education when it comes to helping you find a job/intership?

Fall semester grades, maybe within a week or two of finals. Students don't really find out what they got on most final exams, you have to arrange it, or email them.

I have a girlfriend and I like spending money. So I have a job (10hrs a week, not hard). However I did not have a job the first two years, and I still spent a lot if I wanted to. Basically, my parents paid for most food and I had $2500 from summer jobs. You should have some money in your account, like over $1500. If not, get your parents to pay up or it might be tough to survive all semester.

As for mortgage, don't be on getting jack ****. We had a new big mortgage and I don't think they took it into account.

Yeah, CCE, but most likely their website and "ColumbiaTrak" which posts jobs for students and stuff. That's where I got my job. Great little website. You can only access it after you get your columbia user id and password though, so hold you horses.

How are the students relations and school unity and spirit? These are important factors to me. Is the student body really supportive? Or competitive? Are the students outgoing, etc?

Also, do you know anything about how well columbia does for med school acceptances? Thanks a ton.

No clue about med school. I think its good though.

Student relations and spirit is good, but not like a state school. You will make lots of friends on campus, but its not like Penn State where you will be with the same people at the same big frat parties all the time, where football games are the thing to do on Saturdays.

Its not competitive, but thats because I am in CC. I am guessing SEAS is more competitive, but people work together on problem sets all the time there too. Competitiveness is overrated, its not that bad here.

Students are all very outgoing. You will definitely find the most diverse and interesting people at Columbia, moreso than most Ivies. Sometimes I wonder if I missed out on the real college atmosphere by not going to a more typical college, but if you are already applying to Ivies, forget the traditional college feel, unless you maybe go to Dartmouth and just go to frat parties all the time. Overall, I really like Columbia and the people here. Everyone is really cool and nice, and some of the Barnard chicks are hot so that works out too.

Can dining points be used in place of meals at John Jay dining hall and Hewitt dining hall? or is John Jay/Hewitt pretty much off-limit to you if you had already used up all your meals?

also, it is pretty much impossible for a sophomore to get a single? if not, what's the best way to get one?

wait so only barnard has only hot chics..what about columbia? hehe..o yeh..what about dudes..are there goodlookin ones?..hehe loser!!

and how's Columbia when it comes to getting its students into law school? thanks.

You can use points but no one does it.

Sophs can get singles in Furnald. You can also get a suite in Ruggles or Claremont, that has 3 singles and 2 doubles. I was in a Claremont single soph yr, but it was tiny. Better than a double though. For the suites, you need one jr in your group though.

The chicks are alright at CU. I mean I find the cute ones, but I don't know how to compare it to other schools. There are enough to go around.

The guys, well I can't really say. They aren't that bad. But, again, I couldn't tell you.

I don't know. I'm pretty sure that if you have a good GPA and a Columbia diploma, you won't have a hard time getting into a top Law school.

thanks CUdude, now back to studying for finals in my nice little Furnald single.

Thanks a lot man, this is really cool of you.

I have around $2000 saved up, but I'll probably want to get a job when I get on campus, so that ColumbiaTrak thing sounds cool. I had a decent job but they wanted me to work all the time, 20+ hrs a week, which I just don't have time for, so I got fired when they got tired of working around my schedule. A 5-10 hour a week job would be really nice.

Final question, this may be a little personal but it's the kind of thing I need to know. How is your financial aid package and how are you paying for Columbia? I honestly don't know if I'll be able to without going many figures in debt, which I'm not particularly looking forward to.

Thanks again, this is the kind of thing I (and a lot of us) need.
