PS: What would be my safeties not listed above located in CA?
PS2: Does a 3.995 UC GPA round up to a 4.0 GPA??
PS3: Would like to major in CS/Engineering

Thanks in advance!

any comments??

Do you think you can raise your verbal SATI? Doing so would really strengthen your chances. If you broke 600 there, Irvine and Cal Poly should be safeties. Also, were and of your 10th and 11th grade classes honors other than the 1 AP?

Your safeties now are UCR and Merced and other CSUs.

9th grade they dont offer AP classes.
10th grade i took AP world
11th grade I am taking AP US, AP French, Honors English
- I also took the AP French Literature test but not the class
12 grade I will take AP Calc AB, AP Statistics, and AP Physics
Total: 6 AP classes, 1 honors class
7 AP tests taken/will be took

Does your school have honors in 9th and 10th? UCs are very quantatative and they pay close attention to whether you have taken the hardest possible course load throughout.

9th no
10th AP world (unless u take classes over the summer to get ahead)
11th i could have taken an AP science like bio or chem, but i dont want to major in those areas and i heard it looks better if u took 2 years of physics if u want to major in cs or engineering.
12th-they offer ap english and ap gov. but i am not interested in those subjects and i think 3 AP math/science classes is enough for me

You're fine as long as your counselor can check the box saying you took the most the school offered.

anymore comments?

haha no i don't think that GPA rounds up to a 4.0 =P. With your current GPA of 3.9 (which i'm assuming has been weighted) and your SAT score, I would agree that UCB and UCLA are quite a reach. The next reaches are UCSD and UCSB, though the reach isn't as much as it is UCB and UCLA. However, I think you have a good chance and UCI and maybe USC, especially if you took a hard courseload

thanks
i wrote in my resume Algebra for 10th grade, but i made an error, its Algebra 2 in 10th grade( reg. algebra in 8th grade)

sup:
many have told me that USC is MUCH better/tougher than UCI, UCSB and is about tied with UCLA. why would i have a better chance at USC than UCSB?

APs offered at my school:
1latin
2spanish
3french
4us hist
5world hist
6bio
7chem
8calc ab
9physics
10stats
11english

honors
english

took 7/12 ap/honors available.

UCSB is not on the same level at UCLA. Not even close.

I don't think you have a better chance at USC than UCSB. USC is around UCLA in competitiveness. I'd say UCB and UCLA and USC are pretty far reaches.

(the SAT score hurts a lot, and there are ways to get a harder courseload at your school)

I was under the impression that the applicants that got into UCSB had a higher average GPA and SAT scores than those at USC, but of course I could easily be mistaken since i've got my sights higher schools =P

If you're looking for more matches/safeties at southern California schools, I would add the University of San Diego (USD) and Loyola Marymount to your list.

thanks... do i have a better chance of getting into uci, ucsb, or cal poly if i put for my prospective major undefinded, engineering, or comp. sci.?

I don't know if this would apply to UCI, UCB or Cal Poly SLO, but it's easier to get into UCLA as an undeclared major than as an engineering/computer science major.
