Junior on junior varsity tennis team

Hi everyone! Bear with me as this is my first time posting on this forum. So I'm going to be a junior this upcoming school year and chances are that I will be on junior varsity tennis team this year. I live in a very competitive part of SoCal-- we have several nationally ranked players on our varsity. My question is should I drop tennis this year assuming I'm on jv again as a junior?

I'm thinking in terms of college because I heard that colleges see a jv sport as merely PE. Honestly I don't really enjoy playing tennis as it detracts from my schoolwork, but I am co-captain of the team which is a leadership bonus. Also tennis is lowering my GPA as I have a 4.7 weighted GPA right now. If I didnt take tennis I would probably take journalism or physics (admittedly these classes would lower my GPA too, but they would give me more academic experience).

Additionally I was wondering if colleges frown upon dropping a sport after two years. And if I'm applying to UCLA or UCI then on my application can I just write "three years of playing tennis" or do I need to specify varsity or jv?

So drop tennis or no?

Thanks guys!!

I’m also on JV as a junior because my school has an amazing tennis team and has won states or been runner up the last 3 years. I am sticking with JV as I was the last one cut from varsity and am the best player and captain of the team. If you don’t like the sport then don’t stick with it I’d say.

Um, this is actual a sub-forum for International Applicants, specifically Nepal. We don’t have varsity teams here so I doubt you’d get any good advice on this sub-forum. I suggest you post your question in college admissions or varsity sports sub-forum.
Good luck!

Someone please reply! I’m so desperate because I have to make a decision soon. If you include a link to your question ill gladly return the favor and reply!!!

T1234d, how would I do that? I’m a newbie to this forum. Literally got my account ten minutes ago.
