I'll get to the point right away.
I have Regular American Lit.
How much will it hurt my chances for UC?
I know Honors is tops and everything, I am taking AP US History also.

andddddddddddddd

if I commit myself for one extracurriculer activity, is that ok?
I just started volunteering at the hospital and I'm super excited and I'm sure i'll commit.
sooo?

thnks a lot guys.

:D

Oh and I am in 11'th grade btw...

I’m going to be in eleventh grade too, and I’m totally looking forward to a UC. Seriously though, your schedule seems a bit bare. Are you taking any other AP classes? I would also advise you to join a sports team you know you will enjoy. Just volunteering in one place isn’t too much of a safe bet. Try to join a few clubs and volunteering at the library or a shelter or food bank or something. Fill up your days with things to do!

sports is not my thing…but I will join two clubs this year that I am willing to commit.

getting a job (that still counts…right?)

I don’t think a job is volunteering^, unless you work at like some tutoring center?

Are you sure sports isn’t your thing? I mean, I used to think the same as well. Then I figured, “Ah, might as well try something. What’s the worst that can happen?” Then I joined Track. I figured out I was actually not that bad. I mean, I wasn’t a champion or anything, but I could actually compete against a lot of these guys. And I hadn’t played a sport in my life!

Just try out different things and see what sticks. Don’t count yourself out before you try!

I also have regular Am. Lit and Algebra II (and if my school offered it by itself as opposed to a team class, i’d also be in APUSH). Algebra II so far seems very easy, the first semester is supposedly almost all review of Alg I and then next semester is harder. As for American Lit, the teachers by me seem to make it a very rigorous course, even for regular. If you can pass with an A, then my teacher said that you can probably handle AP lit senior year. AP lang here is supposedly incredible amounts of difficulty according to what I’ve heard. Remember, failing a really good AP class doesn’t look good on an application. Not that you would fail AP lang, but keep in mind, do what you can.
