Junior with Questions.

I’m a junior who just finished my 1st semester of Junior year. I got straight A’s in 4 AP and 2 honors classes.
My weighted GPA is around a 4.55 and my unweighted in around a 3.9.
I took the ACT in December and got a 27. I’m taking it again this Saturday and I’ve been prepping so I hope I can get a 29 or a 30.
Right now I lack volunteer hours but I’ve had a few leadership positions at my school. Also I’ve played a varsity sport for 4 years. I’m also getting a job this summer.
I plan on taking 5-6 AP classes next year as well as a 4th year of Spanish.
I want to major in Chemistry and Premed in college.

A few colleges that I’m most likely going to apply to:
Case Western Reserve University. University of Michigan. Boston University. University of Washington-Seattle.

How do my chances look at these universities.

Your GPA and course load seem very strong for all of these colleges. However, I would definitely try to raise that ACT over a 30 to better your chances of getting in. Above test scores and what not, there is a lot more to the application: extracurriculars, essays, supplementals, recommendations. Will you have something that sets you apart? If you have the stats (maybe raise ACT a bit higher or take SAT) and seem like you have something to add to the school via extracurriculars/recommendations/essays, then you will have a great shot at getting into those colleges.

I’ve always done better on the ACT then the SAT so I’m going to stick to that. I’m pretty close with a lot of my teachers this year so I will probably be able to get some good recommendation letters from them. I’ve also been trying to volunteer more.

Okay, then I would suggest that if at all possible, trying to raise your ACT over a 30. I know it’s easier said than done, but just for the sake of increasing your chances of admittance at these schools. That combined with good recs and good essays will give you a fair shot at these schools.
