Junior Year… 2.0?

[This is probably the wrong place for this, but i'll try anyway. I posted it in prep school admissions as well, but it does not directly pertain to admissions, but rather my high school career.]

I'm currently a sophomore, with top academics and extracurriculars among students at my public high school, which is of lower quality.

I have a strong desire (for many reasons, which I won't get into here) to complete the last two years of my high school experience at a boarding prep school. However, the deadlines for most have already passed, and I have not applied to any (again, for many reasons, which I won't get into here).

Therefore, would it be at all plausible to complete my junior year at my current school, and then repeat it at a prep school? I would of course take different courses and broaden my extracurricular base. While some schools take wait list applications, financial aid would not be available, I have been informed.

Is this crazy? Could it benefit me? Would it just be a waste of time and money?

I would suggest that you avoid undergoing that action.

Don’t.

Waste of time and money. ‘Broadening your extracurricular base’ is something you can do individually and it’d be useless in the long run or the short run.

Eh, I don’t think it would be worth it. You’re going to be a junior soon. Which switching to a prep school (which is generally harder) could cause you to struggle a little in the beginning of junior year. And IN MY OPINION, junior year is more important than senior year because you have to take SATs/ACTs, and colleges look at this years’ transcript because it is when you’re at your prime. I think going to a prep school would’ve benefited you more if you started during freshman or soph year.

Don’t, transferring now would be pointless. Just stick with your current school!

What about studying abroad for a year, then transferring?
