My situation:
I'm a former slacker. I'm currently in Chem Honors and not doing too well; I do better with memorizing things rather than application. Next year (junior year) will be my first time taking any AP classes. I plan on taking AP Lang, APUSH, and debating on whether to double up and take APES and AP Bio.

I know APES is regarded as a "joke" class, but I really could use that class to pad my GPA and also make my class rank go up. I also have a genuine interest in it.

I'm pretty apprehensive to take Bio. However, if I start reviewing it over the summer, should I at least do decently well in there?

Thank you for all the thoughtful responses :-)

yes, many concepts DO overlap in these two classes
there’s really no point in reviewing over the summer. i’m in bio now, and really the only thing is to read a little bit of the textbook every day - KEEP UP WITH THE READING NO MATTER WHAT. or else you’ll have no idea what the teacher’s talking about…and cramming never works out in AP bio, esp. when you’re being tested on 2-4 chapters at a time.

i’ve never taken apes but all my friends that take it tell me it’s pretty basic and simple, but it will keep you occupied with busy work. again, if you’re willing to put in the extra time, then take it. or else it won’t “pad” your gpa. good luck :)
