Will this look like a good schedule for next school year to the service academies (specifically the Naval Academy)?
-Honors Pre Calculus
-Honors English 3
-AP Chemistry
-AP US History
-Navy JROTC 3 Honors
-Leadership 1 (Student Council)
-AP Environmental Science
-Teacher Assist for JROTC
I’m also trying to choose between AP Environmental Science, AP Psychology, or another AP or computer course that could look good for college.
And I will be taking French 2 as well.
I’d go with a computer science course. Everything else looks good.
For senior year, make sure you take physics (any level if you haven’t taken it yet) and to continue into French 3.
In addition, I’d recommend AP gov, either military history or AP euro, AP Calculus, plus a CS course.
Senior year will most likely be: AP Physics 1, AP Gov/Economics, Honors Calculus, JROTC 4 Honors, Honors English 4 or AP English Language, French 3 Honors, Leadership (Student Council if I make it), and Honors Java 1 or AP Computer Science A. @MYOS1634
I have already taken a semester of Military History from 1900-present. My other social studies credits are AP Human Geography, and Sociology, which was a semester. I decided to not take a social studies this year because I don’t need it, and I’m taking Honors Chemistry 1 and Honors Biology 1 so that I can take AP Chemistry next year. @MYOS1634
That looks good.
Any good general classes I should take if I want to major in Business Administration? That’s what I’m leaning towards right now. @MYOS1634
Your proposed senior schedule looks perfect.
For finance, you’ll need an excellent handle on math (precalc for now, calculus later on). That’s what most students stumble upon, as well as micro economics.
Statistics will be required as a college course but you don’t need to take it in HS as long as you tak it in college.
Learning how to enjoy art/music/reading is always a plus regardless of your profession.
I took a personal finance class my freshman year and aced it! Should I try accounting? @MYOS1634
I don’t think that’s necessary unless you plan to become an accountant and want to have an idea about the subject. Many business majors find accounting very dry and the high school version is a very watered-down, slow-paced version of the college version. You’re better off taking “academic” classes.
Thank you, I’ve heard a lot of times that it looks good and I should take it if I major in anything in business. Any specific classes for Business Administration/Management? @MYOS1634
One more question… I’ve been thinking about taking a couple SAT subject tests at the end of this school year for something unique to add to my college apps. Is it really worth it and how much do colleges care about them? @MYOS1634
Pretty good for what you’re aiming for. Make sure you get stellar grades!
That’s what I’m scared about… it’s a big risk because they can see if you score poorly… @Darknez
Just make sure you have good time management and enough time to commit for each class so that the work is manageable while also having a life outside school. It’s all about the effort you put in!
You could plan to take math2, chemistry, and either us history or English literature. It’ll keep a lot of colleges in play.
