I will be a junior next year and my school is doing course selection this week. Any advice for junior year course selection?
Here is what I chose at this moment
Year-long Classes:
- AP Calculus AB
- AP United States History
- AP Seminar (any experience? I never had a class like this before)
- Theology 11 - Ethics and Philosophy
- AP Chemistry
- Boys Chorus Honors
- English 11 Honors
Semester-long classes:
- American Foreign Policy Honors
- Shakespeare Honors
- Statistics Honors
- Weight Training
- Expository Writing OR Creative Writing (Which one should I take?)
- Yearbook Editing
I feel like this seems a lot and way much harder than my classes this year. Plus I also have many clubs and two varsity sports teams. Do you think I should choose some easy classes or this is good?
So you take 10 classes a semester? And I’m assuming theology is mandatory.
If you take 10 classes a semester and already take AP seminar and English 11 honors I would skip extra English classes like Shakespeare and Writing unless that is your potential college major. Instead take a business class, computer class, tech class or a fun class. I guess I can’t imagine having slots for so many classes and not taking a class for fun outside of the core subjects. I am assuming you have reached at least level 3 of a foreign language.
No. There are two classes that meet three times a week after school but they are counted as a part of the school curriculum. And yes, theology is mandatory.
Yes I figured it is a little bit way too much but I do have gym class and yearbook editing.
But I am still thinking if I should drop some of them now because it really seems a very heavy course load.
