For the past two years in highschool I’ve had straight As except in Algebra II first semester. This year as a junior, classes have been a lot more difficult. As the semester nears, I’m in danger of getting a B plus on French 3H and AP Language and Composition, Trigonometry, and potentially Biotechnology. Is it the end of the world? I want to get into a good school and I feel like any chances I have are ending here.
Define “good”
This is a pretty significant decrease in grades (and by extension, GPA) from previously almost all As. Assuming the worst case scenario takes place and you end up getting B grades in all four classes, the best you can do is try to improve second semester. In the meantime, the holidays and Christmas break are coming up. Relax and enjoy the break from school. Stressing over the situation will not lead to anywhere helpful.
A B? You are scared of getting a B?
I’m not to say that you should get B’s, but welcome to honors and APs. I got my first 83 in AP Biology this year and it will probably be a B- average by the end of the year.
As long as you do fine on the AP Lang exam, you’ll be fine, especially because it can reflect how difficult your school is. No college is going to think someone who got a 93 in an AP class, but a 1 on the AP exam is better than someone who got a 81 in the AP class, but a 5 on the exam. If so, people would go ballistic.
