Junior year schedule (too much?)

I was going over my classes for next year, but I figured that i might be overloading myself. Just wanted to see what you guys think, so heres my schedule:

• AP English Lang
• AP Bio
• AP Spanish
• AP Calc BC
• AP US History

I don’t doubt that i could handle the work, but the thing that makes it tricky is that i’m playing 3 varsity sports next year as well (football/basketball/volleyball). These are my main ecs, and im doing great at them, so i dont wanna drop any. Since i have to be at school from 7am to 7pm every day, will the schedule be manageable? I still wanna have fun on the weekends, so i’m just trying to balance everything out right now. Thanks a ton

Since it’s your junior year I would probably drop one of those, probably AP Spanish or whatever is your weakest subject. I had a little bit of trouble managing 4 this year and I didn’t have 3 varsity sports, only tennis and then clubs/teams that only required a few hours a week at most. Even it is manageable which it may very well be, you don’t want to hate your life while doing all this work and putting in all this time.

It’s not that bad dude. At my school, the homework for all of those classes combined would be 2 hours MAX if you pay attention in class. I’m not really sure about Calc BC, but the others should be no problem.

I think it’s overkill.
I’d recommend switching to Honors US History if your school offers it plus taking Physics Honors and pushing AP Bio to senior year.

Bro, take it from me - 4 is more than enough for junior year, especially if you’re playing 3 varsity sports. I played one sport this year with 4 APs, and got like 5 hours of sleep a night. Granted, my school is top-100 nationally, but 5 APs junior year is overkill. You may not feel it at the beginning of the year, but around midterms, the end of the year and leading up to the AP tests, you will be regretting that decision every minute. I’d drop Spanish until senior year, but that’s just me.

^ because math and foreign language have a specific progression, dropping AP Spanish may not be an option.
On the other hand APUSH is not one level AFTER honors US history (it’s not level 2 in a sequence) but one level of rigor above honors history. It’s thus possible for OP to take honors us history.
Remember top colleges expect a TOTAL of 6-8 APs for all of HS. 3-4 Junior year is considered plenty.
Also sleeping less than 8 hours a night harms your developing brain. It should be avoided at all costs.

What do you want to major in?
Have you taken Bio, Chem and Physics?

I think I might drop one of the APs

It seems like you’re overloading. Remember, junior year is your most important year of high school, what’s more important than anything else is to have straight A’s in all of your classes junior year, even if those classes aren’t necessarily the hardest classes you could possibly take. I learned this lesson the hard way my sophomore year, I overloaded myself with a bunch of classes, AP’s, research programs, etc. Overall I took 10 classes sophomore year. I managed to survive the year, and my grades weren’t horrible, but I knew I could have done better if I had more time to focus on some of my classes, especially my math grades. So for junior year, I cut out a lot of the stuff I did sophomore year, got straight A’s in all of my classes, and ended up getting into Harvard, I only ended up taking 5 AP classes by the end of high school when it was all said and done. So that’s my advice, don’t overload yourself, good luck!

With five APs plus theee varsity athletics you will certainly have nights with minimal sleep. I recommend getting rid of one AP

Your AP courses are scattering, meaning that you don’t show a focused major. I suggest you drop an AP course according to your interest.
