Juniors--Is it time yet?

Anyone else already thinking about which schools they are going to apply to early? I have a couple in mind but I don't want to commit myself to some idea about a school too soon. Anyone else in that position?

I am! :] I'm going to recieve my early apps in March. :P Then I'll work it in the summer.

I'm so excited that we will be applying so soon! I am visiting some colleges in April and will finalize my list after some more visits in the early summer. I am almost positive that I want to do Princeton ED, but I still have to visit. I can't wait until senior year!

I'm still putting together my 'final' college list, but I'm ready for some action! I can't wait to just apply...and get it over with. As of now, my number one (and I'm 90% sure that I'll be applying EDI to) is Carnegie Mellon.

Then again, it's a long way until senior year, and it's hard enough as it is to just stay on top of homework. Bleh. :P

=] I did make a college list last year. ^^ I'm pretty much prepared I guess. :P I don't know the outcome but I hope I'll have fun being stressed out. :D Goodluck, you guys!

Does anyone find that surfing this site makes you kind of a college authority? I know tons of random information about colleges, already have a semi-final list, and most of my classmates haven't even begun to think about college. I am super-excited about college, which explains my excitment to apply, etc.

I don't know about college authority. x.x; I feel I know a little bit more about colleges than I used to. :]

yea...spend a couple more months surfing this site and you will know a lot more. :p

i already have a list of schools and have made appointments/signed up for tours at most of them :)

Knowing more about colleges and admissions than my sister when she was a senior and I was in eighth grade has made me feel like a college authority for the past 3 years.

Today I told my friends which prep books to buy for all their AP exams hehe.

I'm applying to Yale SCEA. I decided that like two years ago. If I get in, I'm going - no question about it.

I've already gone for tours at Yale and Columbia, plus dozens of other schools from when my sisters were looking for schools.

Oooh. ME!
I already have an almost full list. I want to do NYU-Stern ED (first choice) but of course, with my 3.6 GPA and mid 2100 to low 2200 SAT scores (I guess about mid to high 1400 on the old scale-my problem is that I can get 800 on math, mid-to high-700 in writing, but I suck at CR and am in like a low-600ish impasse. It sucks). Oh well. I guess it depends on whether I get commended for PSAT or not. BTW, does anyone know when those notices come in?

Anyways, I'm so ahead of all my friends on this process-I think I turned in everything that's due thru march for college counseling. Now I just have to study my butt off for the SAT and make sure that I get like in the mid-2200 range.

I have a small list: Oberlin, Tufts, Ohio State. I don't intend to apply to more than 5 colleges, so I must find three more safeties.

The top of my list is Yale, MIT, NYU Gallatin, Cornell CALS, Columbia, Princeton, and Georgetown. I have a list of like 18 schools, but I can easily take some out.

Wow. I'm glad to see I'm not alone.
I know my top choice schools (MIT, Princeton, UChicago, Yale), but I am wrestling with the whole ED vs EA vs SCEA thing...I don't know which school I like more... eh... Only time will tell, I suppose.

Don't apply to Yale SCEA. Thanks.

Hehe jp.

Ahhhh I wish I could go to Chicago. It sounds like such a brilliant school filled with intellectual people. :P But I definitely won't go that far for college, so it isn't a possibility. :</p>

I'm already one hundred percent sure I'm gonna apply Penn ED, try and get into wharton....My next few things on my agend as a junior are: take SAT IIs and decided if I should retake my SATs ( 2220, but surfing this site has made me reconsider what is a high score)

ooo I see someone is trying to narrow the playing field...hehe nice try :). theoneo, I stand by the maxim, "great minds think alike"

UChicago is really far away from home for me too, but the city is beautiful and my dad went there, so I would have no problem going that far away.

I am having such a hard time narrowing down my list, guess I'll have to just apply very where though. However Yale all the way!!!

This is going to sound really cliche but I'm allowed because I live in MA...ok lame excuse.

Anyways, I like MIT and Harvard I think. I'm staying with some Harvard kids over vacation and I worked at MIT for a whole summer in a lab.

And I'm looking at more colleges come springtime. My dad's a college sailing coach, so I get to be in the unique position of actually getting to go stay with kids in their dorms and attending classes.

:-D
