@day tripper–i have the exact same problem. I just can’t force myself to give up any of them. I seriously get more and more attached to every single college on my list every day. But I really need more safeties/matches.

lol i have to fill out this transcript order form and pay 5 bucks per transcript. then i have to wait like 3 days

there’s a district close to me, conestoga valley, where not only do they pay for transcripts but they’ll also shell out the $86 for your ap tests.

how ridiculously awesome is that for a public school?!

You want to hear ridiculous?
My school is charging $100 per AP test…is that even legal?

$100 per AP test? you guys are getting ripped off. the school probably keeps the extra change.

Yeah, sounds like a rip-off…alas, we pay the $86 dollars for APs…but we get our yearbooks for free, something I didn’t get at my public middle school…lol

Flippin’ blasphemy, is what it is.
Maybe they’re pocketing the extra $14 what with all the budget cuts. Regardless, paying $300 for something I don’t even want to do is outrageous.

GEEZ. I can’t imagine having to pay for all my AP tests…
I’m taking 7 this year! I had to pay $86 for the Micro one because I’m technically not taking Micro…but we cover both in my Macro class so most ppl just take both exams.
Imagine having to pay for all 7. That would suck. Thank goodness the state pays for it as long as we’re enrolled in that AP class and is passing it. We just have to pay $15 registration fee.

Really? Our school makes us pay in full.

FINALLY! I’ll be spending summer working on applications (and maybe working part-time) and hopefully by New Years I’ll know where I’m going. =)

Plus, I have MUCH easier classes next year…No math…Thank god!!! I’ve waited so long for this.

The entire college apps process will take me 15 minutes, tops.

I’m only planning to apply to two schools, Indiana University and UIUC. Indiana doesn’t want essays, EC’s, OR recs, so that’ll take like 5 minutes. And UIUC doesn’t want recs.

And they’re both basically safeties.

No stress for me =]

Unless your plan goes horribly awry and you don’t get in to either.

^^ That will not happen. I’ve never heard of anyone ever getting rejected from IU. It just doesn’t happen.

This summer after I take the ACT, I’ll probably look more into universities… as I do now. I don’t really know what different I can do this summer than I did last.

class of 2010 feels unusually competitive academically and socially though. did any one outside our class notice this? lol…or is it just me? lol

The class of 2010 is actually projected to be much LESS competitive than '09.

^ Really? Are there any theories as to why?

^^ In my school, '10 is really smart, but also not competitive. lmao I don’t know how it got like that, but I like it.

Really?! I mean, I DO feel like class of 2010 is not as competitive, as least not as much as '09 but I don’t really understand why. I kinda observe it though at school because there are always a few REALLY good students in each grade who get into REALLY good schools but not many people next year are even going to apply to top schools (for different reason–some are lazy, some don’t care, some people’s parents want them to stay at the state school, financial reasons…etc) but still. I don’t understand.

BUT. In my school, the class of 2010 DOES feel competitive socially. No idea why.

@Rixs–I have the same plan for the summer College apps, part time job (2 or 3 full days) and a few other little plans (volunteering, touch up a bit for Oct SATs)
And I’m so excited for next years classes…I finally have an easy science. Yay.

^ Haha EASY SCIENCE!!! ME TOO!! I have AP Chem and Physics this year, and I’m really eager to get AP exams and finals over with lol. Next year I have AP Bio, which is the softest science (& a welcome respite!)… next year will definitely be great. :D

my year at my school is pretty competitive. but yea, statistically, the student population is not as large as '09, so college acceptance rates should be just a lil higher, though not by much…
