jury duty but not up here?

<p>grounds for an excuse or would i be transferred? i just want to know before I call in</p>

<p>bumpity bumpity. so i’m a bit confused. the telephone machine said I don’t need to send in my summons form; do they just trust me when i say i’m not a resident in Socal anymore? I thought I would at least have to send in a copy of my bill or something (that’s what it says on the form at least). anyone with this experience?</p>

<p>This happened to my son just recently. If the jury summons is for when you won’t be there, there is a section down at the bottom of the form where you can ask for your service to be deferred until you will be there.
Basically if you are going home over the summer, you would ask for it to be deferred until then.</p>

<p>In May 2008 I got one of those. My dad called the jury people and told them I was in Berkeley for school, and I haven’t got a single one since then.</p>

<p>The legislature really should pass a law that gives college students jury duty immunity, especially for those of us who stay registered at home (where our votes actually matter).</p>

<p>hmm okay. i’m not going to defer because I might only be back home for like maybe a week during winter and summer break. i just wanted to make sure that i didn’t have to send anything as proof. the guy i talked to on the phone said I didn’t but I talked to a couple of people I know and they said they had to…conflicting information galore!</p>
