If you served jury duty in Nashville this week you might have sat next to Taylor Swift!

My D goes to college in-state in Michigan. She got juror duty last year in the week for final exam. She got excused and postponed it to May. The bad thing is she need to be on call for a week or longer for juror duty and ended up got picked on the near the last day after 5pm for juror duty the next morning when she supposed to start her internship. She had to contact the employer to be excused from work the first day. Also, she would not get paid for that day as she has not started working.
My niece is from NH and was attending college in MA where she was summoned for jury duty. When she inquired about being excused because she was a college student from out of state, they explained what others have been saying: that since she resided in MA more than 50% of the time, she was eligible to be summoned. My niece postponed her jury service to a time that class wasn’t in session and dutifully arrived at the appointed time. When the clerk who was checking people in saw her out of state driver’s license, he told her that she could leave saying that it was crazy they would ask her to show up. She explained what she was told and why she was there, but they sent her home anyway. I wonder how common this is?
