Just A Nice Note to the C/O 2018

Hi everyone (especially c/o 2018 students applying to the “most competitive” schools),

I just wanted to let you know that just because you’re not number 1 doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance.I feel like there are so many people not just on here, but in real life that are constantly agonizing over their numbers. How I see it, is if you have a 4.0+ and good test score, you’re in the running. There are a lot of students with perfect GPAs and test scores that get rejected but their fellow classmates with lower numbers get accepted. While CC can be helpful to gauge where you land, please recognize that 1. this is only a very small portion of the application pool and 2. It’s the internet. You’re almost to the finish line when it comes to college apps (most schools require deadlines no later than early/mid Jan, so almost there!)! Just get through this and relax a little! I know you’ll get stressed out when decisions come out, but until then, try not to worry so much!

I also feel like people are relying too much on these Chance Me threads. Okay, let’s be honest, if you have a 3.3 or something, no, you probably won’t get into an ivy, MIT, Georgetown, UCLA, UChicago, WASHU, Northwestern, etc. (but tbh it’s happened so;)) But if you’re a solid student and know you’re passionate, you have a shot! Apply! Do your thing! You’ll never know if you don’t apply. While I certainly understand how these threads can be helpful, please don’t agonize over what other people are saying!!!

If you’re really addicted to this whole process (like me), I would recommend going through results threads over doing chance mes. Even though everyone is different and does different activities, you can get an idea of numbers. The range of acceptances regarding numbers is huge, so you’re bound to find acceptances with your stats. These also give you a big perspective as to how holistic the processes are. Over and over again I see threads where someone with a 4.1 gets accepted to an ivy while a 4.6 is rejected.

I hope you get into your top school or a school that you will be happy that! Good luck in this nerve racking process. I wish you all the best and hope you find success not only in this process but in school and beyond!

XOXO

Wow, lol, meant to but **happy at and **nerve wracking

I’m a little late reading this, but this is so sweet and so true! Wishing you the best of luck
