Vanderbilt is my dream school as of right now, and I was wondering; is double majoring at Vandy hard, with the AXLE requirements and such? My goal is to pursue a double major in either English/Pysch or English/Child Studies. Would the pairing of either be to difficult or require a lot of extra courses? What about adding a minor (Gender Studies...?) to the double major? Would that be pushing it? Please go into as much detail as you can, I enjoy reading any responses you have. Thanks.

Double majoring is very common and manageable. A&S curriculums tend to have plenty of room to fit in another major.

Attaining a double major really is not overwhelming at all, especially in the Arts & Sciences. The typical major is approximately 30 hours of credit and you need at least 120 hours overall to graduate. AXLE only demands 13 courses, around 40-50 hours, several of which may overlap with your major. Bottom line: You should have plenty of time to pursue whatever areas of interest that you like

I would go as far as to say most people double major, or at least have a major and minor. Lots double major and minor or single major and double minor. A handful triple major.

For example, I am double majoring and writing a thesis for one of my majors, and I’ve had plenty of extra time in my schedule for electives or subject areas I ultimately decided against pursuing.

Thanks everyone, especially nicole5178.
