Do students who double major normally have a lot of AP/IB credit? I want to double major, but I don't even know if I'll have enough credit from AP's to hit the max of 18hrs.

This depends on which school you are in. For Arts and Science you can only use 18 credit hours of your AP classes and they always count as elective courses, therefore, you don’t get rid of any of the core classes by taking AP. There is a set of requirements called AXLE, and you have to take these classes at Vandy! Also, I am pretty sure you need to take your major classes at Vandy as well.

I think the main value of AP courses is mainly you worked on more difficult material in high school which may help you transition into college academics.

So I guess it only helps if you want to just take all AXLE and classes for your major and not any electives. But there are a lot of classes at Vandy that will probably interest you that you will want to take even if it does not fulfill axle or major requirements.
