Just accepted, but want to switch to engineering

I was accepted into the college of science at Texas A&M and I now I realize I should have applied to be in the college of engineering. Do any of you know how quickly the spots fill up for engineering? And which majors fill up first?

Either Chemical or Biological/Agricultural are my preferences. My grades are good and ACT score is high, but tamu has rolling admissions and now it's kind of late in the application process.... am I too late? Are there limited spots in honors engineering also?

University offices are closed until Monday. Having a hard time waiting until then...

Chem is full. I’m not positive, but I’m almost 100% sure that you have to wait until you actually get into the university to transfer.

*ChemE is full. I would imagine Bio/Ag is too.

during your new student confrence there is an opportunity to change majors. I know that at least two majors you are not able to transfer into at this time, Architecture & Business… but I do believe when we attended with our daughter 1.5 yrs ago, Engineering was one you could transfer into.
After May 1st date, deadline to accept - there will probably be spots available. At this time there will be people who decide on another University and decline their Engineering slot at A&M.

If I were you, I would contact the college of engineering and see if there is some sort of wait list- you are accepted, so you should eventually be able to transfer into your desired major.

You can try to switch in at NSC, but definitely don’t count on it because if there are any spots left, they will be few and far between.

Thanks for the input. Will definitely call the school on Monday. The howdy portal is up again and I was able to request a change of major, though about half the engineering options are full already. Keeping my fingers crossed.

At least try to transfer to an engineering major, it may not be the one of your choice, but it is better to start off in engineering than not.
