accepted/deferred/rejected/waitlisted predictions? %'s?

I'd say you have a 20% chance of getting in.

thanks...others?

bump for more...

low low SAT scores...

yes yes but chances...?

Really depends on your essays, I think. 25%?

That's overall, I think you have a huuge chance of getting deferred, to be honest.

I'd say 20%, 30-35% if you can boost your SATs to at least 2250 but of course then you'd have to go RD. If you are deferred, definitely take SATs again.

Tawny, I hope you do know that everyone is saying your SATs are low for Harvard, not low in general. At least, I hope that's what they're getting at, because 2000+ shouldn't EVER be a "low" score.

I think you have a fair shot, but I agree with an above poster...I see you getting deferred...but you have another shot in the RD pool! It's Harvard....such steep competition...:(

spread the love, Tawny...Harvard is a Super Reach for you. don't put all your psyche there...get out there and get attached to match schools and then apply to a couple Reaches with better odds than Harvard as well. Give each application your full attention and visualize yourself happily thriving at each campus. Life at match schools with your stats is also rich and rewarding...It is going to be hard to predict who will offer you the best financial aide, but being very sincere about each of your colleges has to shine through on each application

out of curiosity, are you looking at nyu tisch? or wesleyan? from the interests you mentioned i could picture you at those places. i guess i agree with faline, there are other schools out there. :) but you've got a chance at harvard. 20% sounds right like other people have been saying. good essays will help.

yeah i'm applying RD to both nyu tisch and usc film school.

but they only accept like, 50 frosh or less for the film programs... so its still a reach.

i think i just completely destroyed my chances.

i just bombed the SAT II Lit. its not like my standardized test scores had room to get worse...

and by "bombed" i mean i was getting 750+'s on all the practice exams and finishing 20 minutes early...and i didn't even finish this one and got a 640. yeah. well.

i guess i should retake in december.

I'm also applying RD to:

Columbia
Stanford
USC Film Production
NYU Tisch
Boston University
Occidental College

(apparantly Stanford accepts 80-90% of us quest kids? supposedly)

^ some chances for the other schools would be great...
and their merit scholarships (if any)

chances (from 0-100%) for these others:

Columbia
Stanford
USC Film Production
NYU Tisch
Boston University (applying for Trustee Scholarship...know thats a reach)
Occidental College

anyone? i dont really want to make another thread...

do you think it would be worth it to take a stab at Brown? since they don't weigh SAT's (apparantly) as much as some Ivies do?

1,007 views and no replies for chances at the other schools...?

tawny
I am impressed with your long term involvement with your activities and with your test scores. You are very determined and will be in a good place come fall. Perhaps no one is replying because each school on such an ambitious list requires careful and personal attention in the application. Instead of working on odds, I would like to see you working hard on essays and on making contacts with each college alum or looking hard at inside issues at each college. Read their papers, find local alum to chat up, ask for formal interviews when possible. Your preferences are still fluid and can alter based on financial issues and things you learn in the next few months. And you applications need to be personalized. Do'nt focus on the odds really..you will be in the "considered" pile. Now how can you get out of that pile to the most wanted pile. Can you visit any of the locations..?

Faline2:

this is a "what are my chances" forum - the topic is odds.

i have contacted schools, i've worked long and hard on a great essay, where supplemental materials are allowed, i send in other materials that are appropriate, i have researched and researched again these schools.

and now i am on a chances forum, asking "what are the odds?" ... i'm not trying to place all my faith in this forum, i know i must take a lot of thought and care with these applications...

but i just want some input!

i hope the above didn't sound mean/rude/defensive.

(just trying to explain myself.)
