I just bought a brand new Toshiba P70 series laptop. It's amazing. Awesome Full HD screen, 4th gen Core i7, 8 gb RAM, etc. I am just worried about it's durability in the long run. I have heard horror stories about Toshiba's support if something does break down. On the flip side, I've heard great stories about some laptops that has lasted for 3+ years with little to no issues.

I am very good with computers and I know how to maintain them(I am going into the Computer Science field after all) but the stories are terrifying and I don't want to have issues with a 700 dollar laptop(Trust me the thing is beautiful). Can someone reassure me before I go running back to Best Buy? Maybe some good stories on support resolutions and longevity. I need to use this for the next 3-4 years. My old 300 dollar eMachines lasted me 4 years and is still running perfectly to this day minus the near dead battery.

If you know how to take care of a computer, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I got a Toshiba Satellite after in my senior year of high school and it lasted four years through college. I ended up giving it to my dad after I got a new computer. It’s still working fine, but I just wanted an upgrade for grad school. The only thing that happened was that it slowed down towards the end of undergrad, but after we cleared the hard drive, it was back to normal.

Never had to contact support, so I don’t know how they good or bad they are.

^^^Well that’s great to hear. I love it as it looks and feels high quality. All of my computers have lasted my well though. The first desktop lasted 12 years and still works, my Dell desktop has lasted for over 4 years and still works amazingly. The laptop that I’m replacing has lasted for nearly 4 years and is pretty much in a better shape than most laptops at its age.
