Well, my first post!

I was under a certain income, so I only had to pay $20 for four AP tests.

AllanjYu, at my school they try to cram everyone into AP tests, because they want to try to raise our ranking.
If you're in the class, you're required to pay the $82 and take the test at the end of the year. And they stuff the classes.
Each grade has ~ 500 students.
My English teacher says her roster for next year is for SIX AP English Language classes for the incoming Junior class.
Class size is usually 24-32 people.
That's almost 1/3 of the grade taking AP English- and it sorta ruins the point of it being weighted, and then the people who aren't ready for the level of work drag the rest of the class down.
So, yeah. idk, this system seems to clash with your ideas.

i paid $13 for each one of mine--and i get it back

my parents pay $85 per exam...this year i had 4, quite pricy

$74-82.. I paid... which sucks cause I'm pretty sure I bombed all of them. Oh well. Win some- lose some.

The school pays for everyone here, all 2000+ tests.

My parents paid $85 for each of my exams. =P Why are they so expensive!?

school district pays for all of your tests, even self-study if you are in an approved independent study. if you just decide to take a test (like i did for eng lang, having a class that does eng lit), you have to pay 82.00. pretty sweet deal, considering i've taken 5 tests to date and only paid for one.

Ah, at my school, we're forced to take the AP class and pay $82 for each test.

If we don't pay, we're not allowed to walk down the aisle for graduation. I know this because I had a friend who did not want to pay for her tests because her family didn't have the money. She asked for a fee waiver but the counselors told her that her family earned too much.

Eventually, her dad got fed up and started yelling at the counselors, so they gave her a fee waiver. They gave it to her again this year because they said they were too afraid to talk to her dad.

We pay all $82 of it, so this year I would have had to pay $328, but I qualified for the fee waiver and paid $20.

Parents.

It's TWD 2700 here per test, which translates to about $86 USD per test

My parents paid a ridiculous sum of TWD 16200 for six exams, which is already more than the Taiwanese minimum wage of TWD 15840 per month.

This just shows how ridiculously AP exams are priced.

Here is a link for state information - interesting where I live it looks like they pay for all low income students, and will pay AP fees for all juniors and seniors.

the school pays for everything... u cud ahve an F in the class and the school pays for it and if u miss the exam to take an alternate u need a written letter from your mom and a phone call from her to the school and then they pay for it.

My parents pay for everything and it sucks, but at the same time they realize that if I pass even just 1 exam, tuition credits cost more that the combined cost of a few exams.

The state pays for everyone's exams as long as they take it.

If a student decides to skip out on exam day, then he or she has to pay.

exactly the same as above, except its the county....and we take the test at a local church so i dont know if the county has to pay for site usage fee as well.

I was wondering why they charge so much compared to the SAT but like a previous poster said, if u pass the exam you actuall spend less money than taking the actually class. So your getting a discount on a college class.

oh and i live in florida

we pay $54 per exam. doesnt matter whether self study or not.

but next year i think im going to try for free-waiver. what are the conditions for that? low income?

what qualifies as low income?

btw, i live in texas

if you take ap bio or chem and you pre-med, you have to retake the class anyways so you don't really save money but i guess you get prac for it. my parents don't complain about the costs unless i fail the ap exam... which i hope does NOT happen.

82 dollars per exam.
taking the test (this year) is optional however.

from next year on, taking the AP test = mandatory
if you pass (get a 3 or more) you get half of your money back.

my school is CHEAP. we built an 8 million dollar football stadium and ran out of lined paper for 2 years straight after that (including this year)

$69/exam (82 - 13 in school fees b/c we didnt qualify for fee waiver...even tho we dont make jack)

if you are in an ap class and dont take the test, you dont get weighted credit...there is no way i did all of that work to get reg. credit. PLUS ap test = no final

i think the school should reimburse you if you get a 4+...but our public school wouldnt do that, no sir

coughcheap bastardscough cough
