Just finished my sophomore year and I'm not sure whether to study for the SAT or the ACT...

Hey everyone! I want to develop a plan to study for these exams so that I can hopefully get some scholarships when I apply to universities in my senior year. The only “official” test I’ve taken so far is the PSAT back in fall, and I got a 181 on that (not too shabby but it definitely needs some work). Because I got a decent score, I was invited to this free month long PSAT course during summer where they’re going to teach us some new skills that we can apply on the new PSAT this fall. I understand that it’s important to do well on that because I can qualify for the National Merit Scholarships, but the fact that the SAT itself is changing makes me more inclined to take the ACT next spring since there won’t be much information and many study guides for this new SAT (except for on Khan Academy but I have yet to check that out).

Another possibility that I’ve considered is taking both, but that does unfortunately mean that I would have to give up time for studying for one of the tests.

I want to know what advice y’all have for me. I do want to start studying immediately because time during junior will be scarce.

Oh, and I would also love some recommended preparatory resources. I don’t care if they’re on the internet or in the form of a book. Just as long as they’ll help.

There are several posts on CC along the same lines. You can check out the other posts to find resources. I’m also a sophomore but I’m taking the SAT tmr. Good luck on your studies!
