just got in as a transfer, anything i need to know?

After applying for fall 09 transfer a few weeks ago, I just got in tonight and am very excited. I want to give special thanks to Alexandre, entomom, dufflebagjesus, rfkjknovi (sorry probably butchered the spelling) who have given helpful tips along the way in me getting into Michigan. With that being said, what should I do to prepare for the adjustment to Michigan next year academically or just in general?

I just transferred for Winter 2009...this is my first semester at UMich.

First of all, the amount of work is absolutely mind boggling. This is a problem for me because I transferred from a school that was not even close to the academic prestige of Michigan, thus a big difference in the workload. The students are also a lot more competitive I think. Oh yeah, be prepared for the hundreds of pages of reading a week (no joke) you're gonna get for your classes.

socially...I didnt have that much of a problem adjusting socially because I grew up in Ann Arbor and literally all my friends go to UM. Its hard to meet new people as a transfer student because you have to start all over again at a new school whereas people who got in as freshmen already have a head start on the social life. Just remember that UM is one of the largest universities in the world, and there are ALOT of different kinds of people.

^ sorry if none of that made sense grammatically..im kind of drunk and high right now.

cheers.

Congrats ramennoodles08. Go Blue!
