Just got in off the waitlist.

Yeah, there are supposed to be quite a few kids off the waitlist at Duke this year...I wonder why....

excellent choice. You will have a fantastic time in ilr. I'll see you in the fall!!

yeah...what all did you send cornell after being waitlisted? updated grades, a letter of intent if accepted? or just the postcard?

Only having 24 hours to decide is insane. I contacted the engineering school and they said if I got in off the waitlist they would give me a couple weeks to decide. Maybe its different, but how could you only have one day to decide, you also just got your financial aid, whether or not your going to spend the next four years and thousands of dollars at Cornell. That just doesnt make any sense.

"I believe they take less than 200 freshmen."

The freshman class is about 151 people large usually...CONGRATS!

And the 24 hour thing actually seems normal...well that's what I expected it to be from all schools. Since it's this early maybe they'd give more time, but I don't know. A few weeks is a long time when they have to get a concrete number as soon as they can...

Hey tun, did you send any material in to Cornell? Where...to admission office or IRL?

Rape scandal at Duke is reportedly causing many, many students and parents to rethink going there.

well, such a scandal does affect the number of incoming students. I bet if Duke knew this, they would have had admitted more students than they orginally did.

I remember one guy being like..."**** I got recruited to Duke as a Lacrosse athlete for class of 2010" in the rape scandal thread LOL

When I called them in early April, they told me they start looking after May 1.
But I have to go finish my letter too!!

To answer some questions, no I didn't send anything at all. No letters, no updated grades, nothing. I kind of gave up on Cornell after getting waitlisted so this was a surprise.

lol they just had a "hey lets take tun" epiphany

congrats and good luck at cornell next year

mann so i guess this waitlist thing could be some random crapshot. but i gotta say giving 24 hours for a decision like this is pretty crazy

Hey guys, my time zone is diff from that of Cornell's...IF i am accepted off the waitlist, will they only call? (Because I won't be home if they do call...) Or do they send email too (to those of diff. time zones?)

crossing my fingers!

Tun, did anyone else from your school get off CU's waitlist?

I don't think so. I found out Friday night so I haven't been in contact with any people from school aside from the friends that I told.

Odd, I didn't get anything in the mail today. :( I think she's going to call me today so I will have to tell her it didn't come yet.

Another update for those interested, they are working on my financial aid package and it will be a few more days till I get everything.

Another waitlist spot for whoever's waiting. I sent in my withdrawal card to Cornell yesterday.

I'm rather sad that one can't choose more than one university, but at least the spot will go to someone eager to go to Cornell. Good luck to all waiting.

Choosing warmth over the cold? ...Jerk...hah just kidding, have fun
