Just got my AP scores

okay so, i have a problem. i got my AP calc score and i got a 3, BUT my subscore for the AB test is a 4. now, on the website, it says it will treat my subscore like the actual AB test. and a 4 gets credit for math 140. right now, i'm in math 220...so does this mean i don't have to take it anymore? OR 140? can i just move myself into business statistics now? or should i call tomorrow and ask UMD? thanks!

Math 140 supercedes 220. It's a more advanced course than 220. You will be able to place out of it due to your AP Score. However, you may not be able to take Stat unless they remove a block for you.

thanks BigJ..so that means i should call and try to remove that block?

Yes. Call and talk to your advisor. You also luck out because any of the Stats besides STAT400 are relatively easy if you're half-decent at math. I'm taking Econ Stat starting in ohh...2 weeks.

EDIT: From NY? Where, the city or the Island?

haha is STAT 400 econ stat? anywho, i'm from the island. are you near there?

STAT 400 is the "advanced" stats course. It is pure statistics, not relating to any other field. Pre-req for it is Calc II.

Econ stat is ECON321. Any stat class besides STAT400 is a relative cakewalk.

Whiskers,

<-Bethpage

ohh, i see now..well i really hope i can get my schedule fixed fairly soon. do you think they could unblock me by tomorrow?

and i'm from farmingdale :) really close to bethpage

Whiskers,

I used to deliver pizzas for RoseMarie's two years ago.

If there's somebody in Advisement Office, it'll be unblocked tomorrow.

lol omg rosemaries!! i go there allll the time..that's amazing..what grade are you going to be in next fall??

and i'm hoping there'll be someone in the advisement office.. do you think they got my AP score already? or will they just believe me if i tell them over the phone?

It'll be my 3rd year come this Fall, I'm currently a Junior (60+) Getting old I tell ya.

They should believe you over the phone. When it comes to simple stuff like this, they're relatively trusting people. I'm not sure if they'll have your AP Scores, I doubt it. Looking back, I went during Mid-July for Orientation back in 2004, and they didn't have my AP grades yet, even though I called in over the phone for them.

ohh wow..i feel so young lol. anywho..thanks a lot for the information! it was definitely a big help =) maybe i'll see you around campus in the fall! not that i'd know who you were..but it's okay

whiskers,

Ya never know. I have a class with TestudotheTurtle this coming fall semester (ENGL211). So if you happen to take ECON305, ECON422, ECON454, or a class to be named later, it could happen.

haha i'm actually just taking econ 200...but yeah, u never know!

Rock on British Lit! So I have a good feeling about this class, BigJ.. and I don't know why. The readings don't seem too bad (Canterbury, Paradise Lost, Beowulf). We shall see though.

Yahoo!!!!!! I owned the AP Bio and I got credit for Bio 105 and 106 - goodbye double labs for Chem and Bio freshman year - yes! Hello "no-lab" Bio III and Prof Higgins - according to pick-a-prof - an awesome teacher and mentor. I changed schedule online. Thanks for the info on pick-a-prof Lindz!

Was a little frustrated because they wont let a fresh Bio major take more than 16 credits and that means I can't start my art minor until winter term - they refused to remove the block - twice, even now that I would only have 17 credits instead of 18. But I have an amazing schedule - with classes from 9-12, 3 days a week, my one and only chem lab early Tuesday so I get it over with and my CIVICUS classes at the end of the day 3 days a week - so I just walk downstairs in my dorm (that will feel really good when its 30 degrees and blowing snow outside). Honors art was always my salvation in hs - go grab my brushes, paints and a canvas and get lost and relax in my mind. Will miss it - but guess I'll just have to set up an easel in my room.

Oh and the CIVICUS dorm - ahhhhhhh - can u spell relief? We roomed in Dorchester for orientation - and although the room was huge and nice - when we arrived, the A/C wasnt on yet - although my roomie brought a fan - but still was not a nice place to be for a few hours - can see why people spend a lot of time outside in the fall. I love A/C. That should be a facebook group!
