Positive Side - Just had my interview over Skype. It went awesome. The interviewer kept on saying cool and awesome on most of my statements. He even remarked that he was impressed to see someone so accomplished as a high school kid. He ended up saying, "I have no control over the admission decision, but I certainly hope that you get in. Also, inform me when you get the Congratulations letter."

Negative Side - I stumbled at a lot of places and added to that, the interviewer's weird look made me extremely nervous. I was dumbstruck many times. The interviewer asked me whether it was cold and I said "No, I am nervous" and he replied "oh thank god, you said that."

What do you think? Was the interview good or bad? Should I feel happy or pathetic? Any input will be appreciated.

Your interview sounds okay. Most people stumble when asked to answer something meaningful. Your interviewer liked you and that’s good.

You sound like someone who freaks out about the tiniest most insignificant things, like typos in your essay.

newest newb - you are hilarious

love your posts

you must have lots of free time newest newb

newest newb - love your posts

Thanks debarghya for the response.

Anyone else?

It was they usual good interview and you will probably get a good report. :)

However these are the sort of interviews that do not add much substance to your application, much like a generic LOR. That is unless he wrote how specific exploits (which I am sure you have plenty) are extremely impressive in the context of a local applicant.

Thanks kimathi for the response. Anyone else?

You sound like you will be fine - don’t worry! I am pretty sure Pton alumni interviews are solely informational, which means they give a quick evaluation but it holds little weight, as opposed to Harvard and Yale interviews which are evaluative. But if he said that he had never met a more accomplished high schooler you have a great shot! Don’t worry about being nervous… that’s the story of every (well most) interviewee’s life.

A relief… Thanks for the response westideya.

Was the interview good or bad? Well you’d know that better. And usually from what I’ve heard, the interview processes at most Ivies is not like the process in Oxford or Cambridge where your interview is really formalized and where it makes or breaks you, its basically “you know the university and the vice versa” so just relax and hope for the best.
P.S – Even my interviewer told me that he’s sure I’m a smart guy for Princeton and that he has no control over decisions but hopes that I get in. :)

I feel the overall interview was fantastic, but was marred by my nervousness.

Anyways thanks for the input.
