Just received a letter from UCLA

They just sent me an email for asking something about my education gap - extactly same as what UCSD did 4 weeks ago. And they need to get the response no later than May 3.

And another thing I just figured is they sent this email on "Sat, 30 Apr 2005 17:56:50", which means the admission office is still working during the weekend?

Yes. A classmate of mine has a contact in the UCLA admissions office. The whole "we are still finalizing" line is bull shiznit. Basically, they are lagging because of staffing problems. I was told that some may not even hear from UCLA till May 15th, but that most of the remaining should hear on or shortly before the 7th.

I have a contact who can get on the administrative computers to see if decisions have been made yet, and they still have to make a few. so, they are still finalizing some decisions.

Thanx for the confirmation Cuesta. I was only pointing out the difference between "finalizing" a decision and "making" a decision. To me, "finalizing" implies that decisions have been made and are waiting for final approval from the chancellor or senior admissions officer, or whoever. Or that "Conditions of Admission" statements are still being written, etc...

While they are certainly "finalizing" some decisions, I, as well as you, have heard that they are still making decisions for some applicants.

Really just a matter of semantics: how can you finalize a thing (like a decision) when it doesn't exist yet? Or make something already made without duplicating it?

If I was behind on my work, I'd tell my boss the same thing UCLA is telling us.

Do you think that not having a reply by now comparing to the majority implies anything (borderline, waiting list, etc) or is it just bad luck that they didnt get to your name before others?

I submitted my app on Nov 29. Maybe that has something to do with it. From what I've heard, this has nothing to do with your chances of admission.

I remember that I didn't submit my online application until the last 2 hours before the deadline. :(

We should test our theory.

Submitted 1 day before deadline.

Still waiting.

I submitted mine sometime around the deadline (as I always do everything)... However, Im more than sure that a majority of people submitted their applications right before deadline... Anyways, Ill ask some friends that already heard from UCLA....

I submitted my UC app like 8 hours before the deadline and heard on the 27th. I think you're just borderline, so good luck.

Stupid...UCLA...

just received an email from them..but its...its...."Championship Events at UCLA in May"...i faint~~~!!!

(wow...probably...they only sent this email to the students who got admitted...lol..)
