Just received an Email from Tufts regarding Waitlist

I'm an international who had been put on the wait list. I just received a mail from the Director of Int. Admissions which I've copied herewith.

Dear xxxxxxxx,

Greetings from Tufts University!

There is a chance that Tufts will be taking some students off the international waitlist and I am writing to determine if you remain interested in attending Tufts if we do use the waitlist. Please let me know as soon as possible whether you would come to Tufts if we do decide to admit you off the waitlist or if you have already settled in to the prospect of attending another university.

Sincerely,

Guys, Tufts is still my top choice and I am committed in attending; which I've informed them in my reply.

Does this mean that they are definitely thinking of taking me off the waitlist :), or is it just a scheduled check to determine who all are still interested in staying on the wait list:(? And if they are (fingers crossed) considering to take me off the waitlist when can I expect my formal acceptance? The last question goes out especially to Dan.

Guys, I'm confused ... Help!! I am dying of anticipation..

This maybe the third time I have responded to this post sorry Samdrick, but do you think that they will do regular as well, I hope that Dan can answer this as well.

Hey Goldberg, I've sent u a pm.

I don't know the admissions business, but I think this is called "yield management"..i.e., making sure your admission numbers look good by getting an indcation of an acceptance before offering the admission. Good luck, Samdrick! The omens are propitious.....

Samdrick,
Did you respond to their initial offer to stay on the waitlist back in April? Did they send this because you hadn't replied then?

@ Caleno

Thanx!! I really hope the omens are propitious enough for me to be at Tufts this fall.

@vttxnh

I did respond to their initial offer in affirmative via fax immediately after viewing my decision online and mentioned about my strong interest in attending Tufts and my recent achievements too. Moreover I followed up with an email to the Dir of int admissions about 10 days or so back. So, I guess the letter isn't because of that.

I hope for all of us in this situation we find out soon

Hey guys, just to let you know, Dan is in Japan right now and then he'll be in China for about a week. Not sure how often he'll be able to check these boards.

Just got an email from the Dir. of Int of Admissions which read like this

I can't believe it!!! It's like...they were waiting to confirm the continuity of my interest in tufts!!! Everyone else who's accepted...I'm dying to meet you all this August!! And everyone else waiting for their Waitlist outcome...All the Best..especially to Goldberg2..Dude!! I'm sure you'll be in to...

Now I'm waiting for my financial aid award. I just hope that it is not a spoiler and that I can be at the hill this fall!!! I'm off to party now!! Oops!! It's just 5 am in the morning..Well!! It's never too early to start!! :)

goldberg2, i'm pretty sure i met you over the summer @ ssp-my friend alisha mentioned that you got waitlisted at tufts too. i'm sad that a couple of people got off the waitlist today-i hope we find out soon!

smhenry, If you and Goldberg met, there's a good chance you and I met too... I was at the SSP Summers '06 and '07. I'm going to Tufts! I really hope you and Goldberg get in... I already know three other SSP alums besides myself who have enrolled, so things look good for you and Goldberg!

Samdrick,
Congratulations to you!!!!! Where are you from?

congrats samdrick! i hope to hear soon. JP, there are a ton of ex sspers, smhenry i probably met you. Congrats again i hope we find out soon!

Thanx Golberg!! Hang on there..I'm sure they will take you off the waitlist..After all you have done so much and shown that you are passionately interested in joining Tufts. I suppose they are taking internationals from the waitlist first cuz there's another guy on Facebook from Pakistan who was taken off wailist yesterday like me and I am yet to come across any domestic accepted from the waitlist. They are taking the internationals first cuz we have so many formalities to complete..submission of deposit ( which may take time), visa procedures, even air tickets have to be booked well in advance because of the heavy rush during August and Sep. So just relax..I'm sure your phone will wring any minute and there will be an admission counselor on the other side inviting you to the hill this fall. This goes out to smhenry too. Good luck guys..

Has anyone who is not an international applicant been accepted off the waitlist?

I don' think that domestic or cas waitlist has been touched yet, I have talked to the coach and he does not know anything yet. dont give up hope, after this week things will change. we all hope for you, and i am sure that things will turn out the way that we want them, just give it some time

any news out there? a friend of mine so wants this and i am dying to hear news about the wait list......

I called admissions today, they said if you don't get a decision from the waitlist this week, you'll definitely get one at the end of the month. Didn't say whether people would be getting in, though (CAS)...

Thats good news i hope, i hope that I have showed them that i desire to attend their fine university. Best of luck to all of you also on the waiting list. Hope for the best, and embrace the university that you will attend, remember transferring is always an option. Good luck smhenry, hope to see you on the hill this fall.

Called again today, got some information that conflicted with what I got the last time I called, but I'm more inclined to believe this since it's more recent, I guess. The admissions officer confirmed that the waitlist will be used, but not extensively. He didn't give a number, but I think that might be around 100 or so? He also said that decisions would be made on a rolling basis and you would receive a decision, positive or negative, within 2-3 weeks.

I just got into Notre Dame from their waiting list, and I have to make a decision by June 4th, so this is cutting it close =(
