That is great news!! I just got into Vassar, and hope I have to say no to them for the great university on the Medford/Somerville line. Best of luck to you too.

TuftsDaily.com says:

After receiving responses from accepted applicants, "our yield model held up against the uncertain external terrain, and we are on track to enroll 1,275 students, as planned, in the Class of 2012," Coffin told the Daily. "In other words, the next freshman class will not be an extra-large one."

For the second year in a row, 34 percent of admitted students from the Regular Decision pool chose to attend Tufts.

So , I doubt that Tufts is going to enroll anything close to 100 students from the waitlist. But I wish you luck. I hope to see you both in the fall!

For all we know, it could have been just internationals admitted off the waitlist, unless you specifically asked about American students. But whatever, good luck to everyone who's hoping for tufts!

That story is 10 days old. I.e before the end result of the HYP going to their waiting list. There is still hope but I agree the number will be 50 at the largest, I am thinking more around 25-30. Best of lucky to you and I.

I was accepted to Tufts ED, but I have a friend who was waitlisted, and I really want her to go.

My heart goes out to anyone who was waitlisted and wants to attend. And if it turns out that the waitlist doesn't come through, I'm sure that you will be very happy at another college.

I know, but I choose to trust the more recent news, plus I have been lucky with waiting lists, I got off of Vassars last week

Congrats on Vassar!

Thanks, its great but not Tufts, still i will happy either way

anything yet?

noooo but i really want to find out soon! when I called admissions about 2 weeks ago, they said the freshman class is more or less full. depends on the extent of the domino effect of HYP using waitlist this year.

they usually hit it right no the number, the did but an article out at the same time saying that they were full, however if you look at post 20, above, which is more recent, there is confirmation, that they will probably go. I have been in contact, and they know nothing yet, so i can assume they are waiting for the HYP, UVA Duke, Georgetown end result which could and probably will take around 20-30 kids, which means hopefully some good luck for us. Where are you headed as of now?

I don't often repost, but some of what I said much earlier in the process bears repeating. Although I originally posted this in the beginning of April, these thoughts are still applicable to a healthy waitlist attitude.

We are not expecting to use the waitlist this year. I know there are schools out there that have, as part of their strategy to deal with this year's changes, plans to use their waitlist. We don't have those plans.

Of course, what we are expecting to do, and what we will actually have to do may not be the same thing - especially with so many shifts in the landscape of college admissions this year. That's why the waitlist exists. The waitlist is full of people we really REALLY liked, but we don't have room. Accordingly, the number of waitlists we offer is small - it is the least used admissions decision. We would be happy to take any of the applicants on the waitlist if we end up with room (that's why we offered it), but don't get caught up in the waiting.

If you would come to Tufts if offered, stay on the waitlist, but even then you have to move forward assuming you're NOT going to be taken. If we're you're first choice, still, then tell us. But don't think of this as a 'second round' of admissions - that isn't healthy for you and it won't be helpful to us. Getting in off the waitlist shouldn't be your goal at this point - learn to love the options you have.

I know this isn't exactly words of encouragement, but I promised when I started posting on CC to be honest about the process and to provide understanding.

Original, and still helpful, thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tufts-university/484310-waitlisted.html Watch for bluirinka's posts in particular.

Yeah, I did read that and I have moved on for the most part. Do you have any idea when the final waitlist decisions will be sent out, though?

I have read it, and I have moved on, and am currently very excited about where i am headed, i have even looked into which classes i want

Seeing as I have had the most post here, as of Noon today Tufts waiting list is closed, thank you everyone, especially dan for contributing to this discussion, I feel it fitting to finally end this. Best of Luck
