Did anyone hear anythign about the tufts waitlist? or what the stats were from previous years? I'm getting kind of anxious here..

i haven't heard anything yet. i'm anxious too. i'm guessing that people will hear more towards the end of the week.

how do they do it? do you know by phone or what??

i'm not sure about tufts, but i know other schools call.

sourtomatoe: where would you be going if you didn't get off the wait list for tufts?

Carnegie Mellon.. you?

UC Berkeley

I called tufts today and they were like.. yeah mid may to early june . and i was like thanks. im not nervous at all.

hahaha. that's an annoying answer. i guess we'll both be on our toes for awhile. good thing APs are keeping my mind off of this.

This is sufficiently annoying. Does anyone know anything about the tufts waitlist at all. why are they all so hush hush about it. I havent heard ANYTHING about it at all.

Calm down. Really.

Tufts responses aren't due until 01 May. That might be the postmark date, not the date that the check has to be in Medford. As such, today is probably the day that all of the replies are in. All 3,000 replies. Then, Tufts has to count those (granted, a lot of them probably came in during mid-April or something). Afterwards, they have to determine a) if they have any space left* and b) who they want to take. I'm just guessing that the "who they want to take" is a lot of plugging up holes. If all of the trombone players are going somewhere else, then they'll take trombone players. If they have too many IR majors saying that they will attend and not enough psych people, they'll look to take a few psych types off the waitlist. Engineering and LA waitlists are probably maintained separately, so you'll probably hear sooner if you applied to engin.

Anyway - it's annoying that Tufts can't explain that ("Hey, we have to wait for admitted students to reply, then figure out who we want to take off the waitlist - it's not a matter of ranking the waitlist so much as building a class. We'll have replies in and counted by the 7th, and we'll start looking at the waitlist by the second week of May. If we aren't taking people off the waitlist, you'll hear by the 20th; if we are, you'll hear in the middle of June."), but the process isn't annoying.

As Tom Petty said, "The waiting is the hardest part."

Good luck, concentrate on the APs, and realize that no news for now is good news (because they would know quickly if they overaccepted).

*Unlike 1999, when they overaccepted by 150 students

I'm in the same boat as you guys. It sucks having to wait, but at the same time, you just have to remember it's not the end of the world even if you don't get in. For now, I'm assuming I'll be going to the school I sent my deposit to (University of Rochester) and am eager to go, but if I do get in to Tufts, I'll be really excited, too. Either way, wherever you wind up going, just be happy and make the best of it. And if you really hate it there, the opportunity to transfer will always present itself. Plus, you can be motivated to work hard in college to go to that "ideal" place in graduate/professional school, if that is indeed what you plan to do in the future. Anyways, enough ranting from me, good luck to everyone else who is also wait listed!

I called tufts, and they were like mid may to early june is when you'll find out. I guess all i can do is chill till then.

They didn't take anyone off the waitlist. good times.

My counselor said that they told her that it was looking like they weren't going to take anyone off. Oh well, I'll wait it out into the summer. They got to take off at least one person right? I'm not saying that person is going to be me. I'm just saying that I'm willing to wait for awhile.

Nah, i got a letter. and it said that they were like overwhelmed with the number of acceptances or what not and that they didnt take ANYONE off the waitlist.

Wow, that really sucks. I guess I'm off to Cal. Have fun at Carnegie Mellon!

yeah seriously. tufts- bite me.

that really is crappy news... for what it is worth, good luck to where ever you guys go.

soo letter came from tufts today concerning waitlist. guess they accepted too many! no places left for us waitlisters in the class of '09.

Tufts sucks, why does everyone like it so much, like I'm not trying to be ignorant because I briefly looked at the school, can someone fill me in on the positives of the school so I gain some knowledge about it to erase my negative stigma? They seem really run with statistics and looking good aka "Tufts Syndrome" versus granting education to people who deserve it and want to go there.
