I have also done a lot of work with UNICEF, Free the Children, Me to We, and Green America. I organized a volunteer event and oversaw over 75 participants and volunteers. I've attended volunteer leader events and meeteings as well. Additionally, I've been invited to Leadership conferences, People to People Ambassadors, and Writing programs, but was unable to addent due to finances. haha but anyway yeah thats it

*discivered

staring,
It does not hurt to apply. Not everyone improves on the SAT. You might try the ACT as an option.

A suggestion would be to bring up those grades and take a class to improve your grammar and usage skills. This would help you, no matter where you attend college.

As you may have read scores were up again this year at SC. At this point it is a reach for you.

imi1928,

You are right to love USC, it’s a great university with a fantastic communications school. It’s also very difficult to get into and while your stats are good, they’re also a little low for USC averages. My advice is to do whatever you can to improve your SAT score and I agree that you should also take the ACT.

I would also rework your presentation of your EC’s.
1.) As a comm major your strongest EC is editor of the school paper. List this first.
2.) Delete all references to programs that were offered to you but that you didn’t take.
3.) Group like EC’s into common areas and only list the strong EC’s. By strong I mean EC’s that require serious time and effort.

Lastly, your essay will be VERY important to gain admission. Work on that one a lot and please have an english teacher proof it before you send it!!!

You’re doing great so far, get all A’s in your senior year, and try hard on the SAT.

Good luck,
Wheaty

Thank you guys! My grammar and spelling are usually quite good, but I wrote the thread after 2 hours of AP Biology. My brain was kind of fried haha.

I’ve taken the ACT twice and gotten 27s on both, which really is not that good so I’m hoping to do better on the SAT the second time around.

I’ve already written my essays and given them to two teachers to read, so still waiting for them to finish.

Assuming I do well on my SAT and have amazing essays, would I have a solid chance of getting in?

u should get in…just have lots of cash/

I hope thats a joke cause I was hoping the school had lots of money to give me haha. Def need financial aid.
I actually chose USC over NYU b/c of finaid

Yes, approximately 60% of undergraduates at USC receive need-based financial aid. USC guarantees to meet 100% of USC-determined need, and they determine need using the CSS/Profile, so the amount you are expected to contribute may differ from your FAFSA EFC.
Comments that you “have to be rich” to attend USC are either jokes or made by uniformed individuals.

alamemom- would you please delete a few messages so I can send you a pm? Your mailbox is full! :)
