Hey, I was angry about this so I decided to post it.
You know those Adidas flip-flops, the ones sold everywhere you go. Anyway, I really wanted to get them, and I asked my parents didn't agree. So I waited a while and then nagged and nagged about them and made excuses to get them to get the flip flops for me. They finally agreed (after nearly 2 weeks) and said that the next time we went out that they would get them. The "next time we went out" came and went and still no slippers. I boycotted my parents and refused to talk to them and told that that I couldn't trust them to keep a promise (I was just putting on a show so that they could get them for me). Soon enough, my father got tired of my nagging and gave me the money to get them. Yet he didn't forget to try to make me feel guilty becasue I was buying something he thought was a waste of "his hard earned money." I had the money in my pocket and for some reason felt bad about it and ALMOST decided to give it back to him. But when I asked for my allowance he refused to give it to me and that ticked me off; so I've decided to go to the mall today and get them only to tick him off.

sorry this is so long, I just wanted to share that little boring story. I know it sounds really immature of me to buy them out of spite but my parents really ****ed me off.
Please feel free to post any comments...

My parents are like that too. But what's the point of buying... "fashion" flip flops?? no offense that's really stupid. I agree that parents SHOULD keep their promises but they do work very hard to get money too you know???

That post made you seem really selfish! Flip Flops aren't that big of a deal to get into a big fight with your parents. Plus I don't even get allowance and I'm not complaining. I think that your dad was right not giving you your allowance, just think of it as he did... the flip flops. Btw, those flip flops are so overrated. They hurt my feet and I don't even wear the ones I have. Old Navy Flip Flops Rock... $2.50 a pair!!!!!

Yeah I agree with everything that was said, they're gonna go out of style as soon as you buy them anyways. Yeahhh Old Navy flip-flops are kick assss or you can go to Target cuz the ones there are cute too!!

Stuck-on-1700, you sound like a brat. I can't believe someone even wrote a post about this. I'm glad your dad didn't give you your allowance. You don't just get new things for no reason, unless you actually earned the money.

lol. i don't get an allowance either... whatever clothes i want, i have to buy them w/ my mom (except for when i'm away from home). and even then, it's not that much. however, i get money whenever i need it - like movies, food, etc. so basically i just save up money from those times and just buy stuff occasionally if i REALLY want it.

but yeah, they're just flipflops? i mean, the only time i've argued that much w/ my parents was over a bf. and in the end, they were right... rawr, i hate how parents are usually right. i know i was stupid but i haven't admitted that to them yet (and don't plan to.)

Who cares about what I wanted to buy? That is just an example. And yes I like to spend their money. Besides, if they can spend nearly 300 dollars on shoes for my brother, then they can spare 20 for me. And this is a pattern, I have to go through this whole routine for absolutely anything I want...Just yesterday I asked for my allowance again and they refused to give it to me. I admit that I am a spoiled brat at some times, but I don't care as long as it gets me what I want..no matter how long I have to nag. And I do have some reasonable requests too, I ask them to get me stuff that I actually need for school, not just clothes. and I know that I over reacted and that the flip flops aren't worth it, but i liked them and I wanted something besides the one pair of shoes I have.
You know, I really like the honest critisizm I'm getting. I'm 16 by the way. and I know it's a dumb age to be *ed off about something so stupid but I'm trying to make a point. and my dad will give me my allowance sooner or later, it's this routine he has..I'll get it eventually. and if I did have my own job, I'd still buy what i wanted even if it seemed rediculous, it's my money and I'll do whatever I want with it. I may sound like a brat but I'm not, most of the time anyway. Again, it's not about the *ing slippers, it's the fact that I have to lick their asses clean before I can get a penny out them that I don't like. If they just gave me money then this wouldn't be a problem and I wouldn't have to sound selfish/ like a brat./ insane...etc.
I am so over the whole thing anyway, who cares about a pair of flip flops? and, yes, it was a dumb idea to post this whole thing. but I still think that they were being unreasonable when they refused to get them for me.

this is a retraction of two sentences in my previous post:
"And yes I like to spend their money..."
I don't really I just put that in there for no reason. so forget about that.

"If they just gave me money then this wouldn't be a problem and I wouldn't have to sound selfish/ like a brat./ insane...etc"
that actually does sound selfish, I only realized after i had posted.

hah my parents give me everything...i guess so its b/c im the baby of the family...AND I dont have a job and i sometimes drop a couple of hundred dollars on a couple of outfits i once dropped 300-something dollars on a dressy few-piece outfit i wore on easter and at a sweet 16...i recently spent 145 dollars at anne taylor on the hottest dress ever for 2 weddings its just hot! I Couldnt wear my other outfit b/c there night weddings...seriously tho these dont happen often but when they do i always make sure i give dad a big hug! ps: IM not as spoiled as u think those outfits r 2 of the most expensive outfits ive ever bought and im curvy so i cannot fit into skimpy little dresses so basically i almost have to buy custom made dresses

same here!! my parents buy all my clothes and accessories lol!! I don't have a job, and I don't really won't a job to be honest..I mean my parents don't mind buying me clothes or giving mee money!! At the sametime though, sometimes they so "NO you can't have any money, or NO were not buying you this today" and when they don't I accept it I dont really get upset or mad.. Cause I will get sooner or later! I mean they do the same for my two older sisters, and older and younger brother..

So Stuck-on-1700--I don't really think what you posted sounded slefish maybee a little, but I can understand why you were fustrated @ the time!!
